When Riker used the joystick control thingy in Insurrection I remember the entire theatre laughing. And just as Data told lal.."they were laughing at you not with you"...It was seen, and rightfully so, as a stupid idea. Whoever thought of that should be found and..well..executed!

But thats the only time. The still famous brain operation in Spock's Brain/walking around like a robot silliness.

These are just two examples...but can you think of other scenes or moments in TREK history where you thought to yourself..."THIS IS STUPID"

• The argo chase scene in nemesis.
• Enterprise having 26 decks rather than 24
• The auto-destruct being off line after the enterprise rams the scimitar in nemesis. Can’t someone just fire a phaser into the warp core at close range?
• Transporters being off line in nemesis cant they use the shuttlecraft transporters.
• Picard in generations he can leave the nexus and go to any point in time so what does he do he travels to a point 5 minutes before the energy ribbon reaches the planet. Why doesn’t he travel back to an earlier point in time to increase his chance of success.
• The deck numbering in the final frontier lift shaft scene
• In nemesis when the reman board the enterprise picard ignores the reman extreme sensitivity to light a smart captain would have used this weakness to his advantage order lighting on these decks to be increased to maximum levels .
• The idea that Deanna can accurately locate a ship in 3 dimensional space which is travelling at impulse speed using her telepathic link to the reman 2nd in command.
• Picard turning into rambo in nemesis and being capable of fighting his way to the bridge against reman which are supposed to be the shock troops of the romulan empire.
• When the enterprises shields have failed and shinzon beams over the reman to capture picard. Why doesn’t he simply lock on to picard and beam him directly onboard the scimitar or alternatively beam everyone off the enterprise into space apart from picard. Then beam over the reman boarding parties to capture the ship without resistance.

(Although WHY people have such trouble with this one is beyond me. Heck, I've zonked myself on valves, pipes, and low overheads on all the ships I've been assigned to -- and as either the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer, arguably one of the 'experts' of the ship as much as Scotty. So it DOES happen in RL. )

Like it or not a joystick controlling the Enterprise isn't as bad and is much faster than barking at the helmsman to change "course to 147 mark 47". That really doesn't matter much when you consider the whole film insults your sense of ethics.

Under the category of things that make you want to go "eeewwwwww", before you start laughing.

Anytime Braga tried writing romance for Chakotay. Even leaving the whole sleezy Seven loves Chuckles thing aside, there was always something creepy or sinister about every attempt at a relationship for the man after Jeri Taylor left the show.

Season 4's "Unforgettable" has that scene where Kellin moves in for the kiss and Chuckles sits like stone, ice-cold. Must have been some kiss: He suddenly goes from treating her like a stalker to having the hots! Ta-da! Instant let's get it happening Mama, ice-cream to breakfast in bed!

In fact, come to think of it, make that anytime romance and relationships were written for Voyager after season 3, except for Tom and B'Elanna. That was the only one they got right IMO.

Janeway not firing back in "Maneuvers". A single ship of a design we'd seen many times was no match for Voyager is attacking the ship. So she fires one shot and then stops! Then a small pod approaches Voyager on a collision course and they just sit there!

Blast it to pieces!!!

My "the theater broke up laughing" moment was also from INS: when Picard & the gang ran into caves for safety. Caves! Haven't they ever watched Star Trek?

Shatner just looked like he was wearing whatever he wore to the set that day. Anachronisms appear in Trek, but unless we rationalize it by saying the "20th century look" was in at the time (including flannel and checks), it didn't work for me.

And, they were obviously Levi's. Still making 'em almost 300 years later, apparently. Same great style. Same great fit.
