Nice. It took me a while to figure out that the nurse acted as the division between the left-hand and right-hand images... either that's very clever or I don't read enough comics. ;)

Great job, Ptrope! I am sure that nurse O'Malley will be a recurring character... at least if I have anything to say about it. ;)

Good posing on Spock and McCoy's face as well. And good lead off for our next contender. Can't wait to see what they've got cooked up in both art style AND script wise!

Good Idea ... I just fired one off to Vector.

Awesome work PM! I dig that style a lot. Having a different font for Spock speech and McCoy speech is another really nice touch, and the story just keeps getting more interesting...

I wonder what's awaiting "Kirk" and co. in the Omicron Centauri system...

Holy crap! Nothin' like taking your time there, PM. Guess I know what I'll be doing for the weekend. :p

I gotta say, though, when this idea was first proposed I thought it sounded like one of those sorta cool ideas that would never go anywhere. Boy was I wrong! This is turning out to be one of the flat-out awesomest things to hit this forum in a long time.

Is it too late to get in on this?

EDIT - On second thought, I looked at the first entries and I'm not in the same league as everyone else. I just don't have those kinds of skills. Have fun!

I need to try something like this someday. My colouring always looks far too clean to me.

Wow! Another two great additions one straight after the other. Great stuff!
PTrope, have you tweaked your McCoy? On your webpage, he comes over like his ten year younger brother, here he looks like he is with one foot in the grave (or is that just the different resolution/lighting?). I'd say get his eyes a little less blood-shot and you have basically settled him.
Spock on the other hand shows how Vulcans age slower than humans. (It is strange how there are several quite good likenesses of Spock around, but I have yet to see some Kirk alter-ego that is halfway passable, although he actually his appearance changes the most between the end of TOS and TMP.)
I can't wait to see something tangible coming from that TAS re-animated project, even a small scene i.e. on the bridge as proof of concept.

Wow, that's freakin' brilliant, PM! I love the retro style. And I love the way you've drawn Spock ...

    That's beyond awesome.

I'm very glad to hear that from you, Vektor. And I have to agree, the quality of the entries so far is beyond everything I would have expected. This is turning out much better than I thought.

Thanks, Thomas. That's very nice of you.

And again, everyone is still very welcome to join the project. The quality of the entries so far really isn't the benchmark. Every artistic style will be appreciated. (I'm looking at you, Mark!)

Thanks guys ... I've always been a huge fan of Kirby-esque comic art and this was incredibly fun to do. I simply can't wait for this story to really get rolling, as I'm going to be experimenting with a variety of styles, and not necessarily tradition comic styles either.

    Too much fun!!!

    :D

I gave very brief consideration to joining in myself. I did a test with pencil and paper this morning.

    The results were not good.

PlanetMudd, very cool! A unique comic style; I'm really impressed that you cranked it out that fast and still managed to follow right on the heels of my late entry, even to tossing in Nurse O'Malley ;)

I actually tried to 'young him down' a bit - the lighting highlighted some areas where I had him looking too old, but, yeah, it's mostly the harsh lighting. I'll look at cleaning up his eyes, too :bolian:
I like the way Spock looks, but I don't think I did a very good job on making him look like Leonard Nimoy - I didn't really have a lot of time to spend on the morph, and I'll be going back to fix it.
    You and me both! :D

Looking forward to Vektor's contribution. ;)

EDIT: When I did my panels, I hadn't read the link upthread about Kirk's mystery tool (hey, stop that giggling! ;)); I knew I recognized it, but when it turned out not to be one of the various sonic screwdrivers, I decided to be intentionally vague about temporal connections. Glad to see I kept it in the ballpark! :bolian:

Merciful Mogg!!! What have I gotten myself into??!!!

As Vector observed, this "round robin" has launched far stronger than I suspected. I fear I'll appear the "weak link" in this chain.

I'd better keep an eye open for Vector's entry so that I won't fall behind schedule.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Does that mean I have convinced you? If so, cool! :D

You've got seven days for your entry. If you don't find the time, just PM the next one.
