How is the new show? Is it better than the classic show?

Hogan and Ali are the weakest parts of the show, even though I do like Van Earl Wright as play by play. American Gladiators is pretty much my guilty pleasure show of the summer and I think season 2 has been awesome so far. I have mixed feelings on these themed weeks, but there have been some (Like 2 weeks ago) that have been fantastic shows. I wish it returned to the 90 minute timeslot though. I tried Nashville Star and I'm done with that on the basis that it sucks and is nothing like the one I saw on USA last year briefly, and I wish events like Skytrack (Which was new) didn't get regulated to NBC.com status.
i'm not a fan of it. the show feels more like a gameshow than a sports competition. it's a complete flip from the old show.
i'm also not happy with cutting out whole events because they ran out of time. here's a way to save some time, don't do a pre-event interview AND post-event interview with the competitors for every event. the events (other than the eliminator) last a minute at the most, there should be plenty of time to get all the events shown in an hours (or 40 minutes) time.

Heh...I hadn't seen the old show in years and earlier tonight I stumbled on a repeat from 1996 (an "International" episode taped in Birmingham UK). Apparently ESPN Classic is repeating it weeknights at 10pm ET.
It was like the difference between TOS and the early movies. Flashier, glitzier, more "in yo' face". I like the pool. But ultimately the same basic show (I watched one of the new shows tonight afterward to compare). But it SHOULD be longer. Agreed.

The prevailing theory among some online posters, is that several eps were supposed to run 90 mins, but with the deflated ratings, NBC decided to whack them down to an hour. I've not found any official info about that, so don't etch that in stone.
So, why not cut those stupid interviews with Hogan and Ali, who are the weakest links of the show

I've been enjoying this with my room mates as our guilty pleasure since it started this spring. This latest episode gave us the best contender for a new gladiator we've seen yet this summer with a guy who literally takes down pretty much every gladiator he is put up against (except Titan, who stops him like a pinto running into a freight train) and is also fast enough to finish the Eliminator with one of the better times of the season.
My biggest complaint on the show, other than couple of dumb events is the eliminator. Not only is it too highly reliant on speed (thus giving us Rocket and Jet last season) but things like the sagging stretchy "rope swing" are just awkward and serve no purpose. We need to get gladiators in the way at some point (evenly matched ones please, I don't want to see Justice and Zen matched up with the contenders when one is obviously stronger and one is obviously faster, and they really need to take that into consideration on some of these events) and other strength-based aspects.
Overall I've disliked the gimmicks of this latest season. I don't need to hear every 5 minutes how much weight these people have lost, I don't want to see a guy missing his leg struggle through the eliminator, etc. Want to give me a gimmick show? Gladiator vs. Gladiator(to see who gets to come back next season maybe, or perhaps bring some of the classic guys back to face off with the new ones). Real Athletes vs. Gladiators. Celebrities vs. Gladiators. Otherwise I want the best people they can find on the show, not some crying little twerp who made it in just cause he lost 100 lbs.
AG brings out the manly man in me. . . I need some extra rare steak and a beer now.
Oh, and Toa is a badass.

All of those are good ideas. I for one would love to see an ep where 2 of the 1st gen gladiators went head to head
Hey, any chance to see Crush (One of the reasons I actually watched some of the Elite XC thing on CBS was for Gina's fight) get more screen time on American Gladiators is alright by me.
I think they are. One episode I saw highlights of what was to come this season and that looked like one of the events. At least it's better than Hit and Run, and the other event that is just like hit and run.
Two good Hosts. No one could beat Adamle or Czonka.
