EURO 2008 - The Official Trek BBS Thread

I'm a Croat and i'm so pissed at "my" team right now.

They were the better team for the majority of the game, put on pressure and had many chances during the 90 minutes and nothing happened.

Then they score a beautiful goal at the last minute and get the countergoal with the next turkish action! :klingon::klingon::klingon:

And then they miss 2 goals!!! in the penalty kicks and on top of that this rather weak turkish goalkeeper manages to keep one and win the game for the Turks.

The only advantage is that i don't have to split my loyalty next Wednesday in the Half-Final when Germany plays against Turkey (i live in Germany).

I hope the Germans really stomp them into the ground!

Turkey winning was pure robbery and congratulations to Germany for making it to the final ;) (Where did the ref get 2 mins at the end from) ?

Also to answer question earlier, Everyone loves the Dutch theres nothing to hate about them fun people and a good footballing team so I want them to win EURO 2008.

Do Turkey have a real team left to go against the Germans? They have so many players of various positions suspended. No I don't think the game will be a cakewalk for Deutschland but the Turks better hope it doesn't go to the penalty stage because there is no way the Germans will miss any.

Holy crap! What an amazing game (well, sorta).

I came home to watch it with only a couple of minutes left, which, to be honest, was the perfect place to start watching it, since I saw all the interesting stuff ;)

There was definitely no way I thought Turkey would come back to win it with so little time left.

Tonight the Dutch team will be wearing black bands on their arms to support Boulahrouz...

Boulahrouz never got the chance to do that but has bravely declared his intention to continue playing, even though wife Sabia still lies in the Swiss hospital where the couple's baby girl Anissa died just hours after being born two months prematurely.

Defender Boulahrouz was rushed from training in Lausanne to be with them as the dreadful drama unfolded.

The team-mates he left behind were shattered and in distress when the awful news reached Holland's hotel.

At a sombre training session on Thursday, Boulahrouz appeared unexpectedly, strode on to the pitch and asked them to gather around.

And the emotional speech the courageous 26-year-old delivered is likely to bond this band of brothers together for far longer than the eight remaining days of these finals.

It might also provide them with the ultimate motivation to ensure there is at least some sort of happy conclusion to a summer none of them will forget.

Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar said: "Khalid walked on to the pitch and we knew he had just gone through a horrific Wednesday.

"But he asked if he could speak to us and the whole squad went quiet.

"He announced that Euro 2008 must continue for us despite the pain and the sadness of his personal life.

"He told us he was determined to play against Russia and that he wanted fulfil his mission at this tournament."

While I like the Russians too, it just wouldn't be right for Holland to not win this game.

Russia is amazing, I'm very impressed.
I only saw their first game against Spain, where they lost 4:1, but this is great stuff.

I didn't expect to see a 1:0 by Russia after 55 minutes! It's not undeserved, but it could easily have been the other way. I look forward to the Dutch answer.

BTW, if Holland loses it means that at 3/3 teams that rested players in their 3rd group game lost. Food for thought for coaches.

Yeah! 1:1

RvN scores!

First a red and then not? Can't remember that happening.

I'M PISSED!

I forgot about the game till the 65th minute! Oh well, the last 25 minutes have given me my money's worth.

Go orange!

Damn, now Turkey really is my last hope in this tourney. I can't get myself to root for any of the other remaining teams (except when they play against Germany).

I really didn't expect this. Russia is a deserved semi-finalist. Tomorrow I'll be rooting for Spain. At least one of the group winners must advance, right?
