What Rank is Dr. Fisher (Vanguard)?

at least an LTC i'd guess, he's been in for a while...
It's never been established, not even in the series bible. As a 50-year veteran of Starfleet, however, I'd guess he's probably either a commander or a captain. Maybe Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore can assign him a rank when they write book four....
Even though it's never been established, in the back of my mind I always considered him a commander.

Does he interact with and call anyone 'Sir'? Apart from Reyes, I'm not sure - so all we know for sure is he's not a Commodore! Could there even be a Commodore in the Medical Division?
How does he react with Rana? Does he call her Ma'am or refer to her by her rank? Ma'am would have suggested same or lower rank, referring to her by rank would (in my mind) have suggested he's of a higher rank (thus Cmdr or Captain).

Well, he's been in Starfleet 50 years and is mulling retirement. I figure he calls people whatever he wants. 
In all seriousness, he's never been portrayed as a by the book Starfleet officer. In the scenes I've written, he's very casual with both Reyes and Desai, though admittedly those are usually informal situations. In the scenes I've written for Book 4 (so far), it's more of the same.

Yes, we have a title. No, I can't reveal it. It will be revealed (hopefully with the cover art) at Shore Leave.
