Rams on the Run

I'd love to see a Star Trek Demolition Derby...the set up? Two ships about the of 2000 miles apart...they both start their engines and rev up to some speed that is fast, but not super fast...and then...they hit each other head on...

Somehow they would do this in the atmosphere of Earth, high enough off the ground..but so we could see them ram each other, head on, AND hear the noise!!!...I just think that would be so cool....

So...which two ships would you like to see ram each other head on, and watch the mayham LIVE..and in person..

Enterprise D vs Enterprise E...I think this would make a lot of noice, and watching the tangle mass crash to the ground below, hopefully right on top of Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch...

25$ for adults
10$ for children

I'd go with the Excelsior vs the E-E. Those excelsiors were built to last and both have thin (for their size) saucer profiles that would slice each other up good.

Then I'd like to see the Defiant go up against a bird of prey.

How about two borg cubes going at it.

Have you seen Nemesis? There's a pretty awesome starship collison in that movie.

Yeah, and even more awesome when the Enterprise is able to reverse engines and "pull out" of the other ship. Maybe Apollo's giant hand was holding onto the other ship which allowed the Enterprise to back up?

Of course a simple on-screen explanation could have been that the Enterprise used some type of tractor beam to repel the other ship while pulling out....but that's reaching a bit.

Uhm ... the Enterprise did not reverse it's engines ... it was the Scimitar that initiated such a procedure.
Enterprise on the other hand does posses the ability to go backwards on thrusters ... impulse as well (despite the fact there is no visible impulse engine exhaust on the front.

.... You really have no idea what trek is really about do you. From all of your threads I surmise this would be your ultimate idea of Star Trek. Sex, Sex, Other TV Shows, Sex, Explosions, Violence, Explosions.

Oh..I do know what star trek is all about..and what I am telling is very simple...follow along...It isn't working anymore...if Voyager didn't prove that too you, and Enteprise and Nemesis and Insurrection didn't, then you are as lost as this Franchise is...

And I fear many hard core fans, like you, will blast this new movie because it will,as is already being feared, dumb down the story for a new generation of fans. We already know that Kirk will be seen as being a sex horn dog already-the cast will have a few hotties in it, and of course, it will have explosions...And as I have said from day one? If it does scare off the hardcore nuts out there then that is a GOOD thing for trek's future...

If I had my choice we'd see more Trek movies in the TMP vein than the First Contact. But that isn't going to happen..so there will be more action in the new movie, as well as a sex scene or two for kirk (from what I have read) and more comedy. All this at the expense of any real scifi plot....

If you don't believe me then let us both wait until that movie comes out...for TREK to compete with the IRONMANS (sex-sex-explosions-witty dialog) and the Transformers of the world (no story-explosions...hot babe for the teenaged pimple crowd) it will have to appeal to the same crowd. And I know, deep inside you, you know that I am right..

I don't see why cerebral entertainment and explosions can't co-exist. First Contact was kind of a zombie movie in space with robots. But it also had a plotline about a legendary hero not being what they imagined; a guy almost consumed by his contempt for his enemy; and I think Data did something too.

I mean, look at The Motion Picture. That's the complete antithesis of an action movie. Even a portion of Star Trek fans have trouble sitting through it. You have to have balance.

EDIT: Freaky. I didn't see Scorpio's message when I was typing this one, yet we both managed to contrast First Contact and the Motion Picture.

Yes, that was freaky...but you are right. In fact, you can go one further..why do you think VOYAGE HOME was such a big hit? Because TSFS wasn't that great. So Paramount said "we need something for the masses, not another depressing, slow movie mired in continuity"..

So we got a movie about two whales named George and Gracie and a 'fish out of water' tale for our crew...Some of these Star Trek fans, the hardcore ones, can't seperate the need to make a movie, and the need to make a profitable movie...so they will poo poo sex in these movies, or explosions, or heck, even comedy, for some scifi ladened movie weighed down by established TREK canon...these are the people who shatner told to "get a life", and they still havent...

If this movie causes those kinds of fan to give up then,as I have said, it is a price Paramount is willing to pay...I hate to put it so cut and dry like that, but that is really what it is coming down too...as M-5 said, "this unit must survive"...well, in order for TREK to do that, it must move on from low budget movies (nemesis-insurrection) that appeal only to the fans. It must aim for higher profits, or die...STAR TREK 11 is going to be bashed when it comes out. Just as Voyage Home was when it came out. Which is fine with me...

If your idea of what will make Star Trek XI a good and successful movie is Kirk having sex, and having non-stop violence and explosions. The main thing Star Trek XI needs to be successful is to be good, not some violence crazed sex romp that just happens to take place on the enterprise. I think you generally don't understand the general public, most of them really don't care what genre things are in (ie, ships in space, fantasy, superhero, historical fiction, etc) they really just care if a movie is entertaining and good. Just look at the most successful movies of today they are movies based on comic books! But according to your logic, the people who read comic books are going to be the only ones watching these movies, so they will flop. And if you look at that genre for the most part movies that do well are ones that are good,(for example Batman Begins as opposed to The Fantastic Four) not just ones with a bunch of explosions and violence. Putting a bunch of exlposions and sex scenes in the movie will not make it good just like how sticking feathers up your ass does not make you a chicken.

I'm not saying action is a bad thing it can well serve to compliment a good movie, but come one, you started a thread about Star Trek ships having a demolition derby, that completely is a against the point of Star Trek.
