Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episode?

I found myself enjoying INSIDE MAN on my rewatch of Season 7. I think I enjoyed the "evil" Barclay hologram's wicked manipulation of the crew, especially in contrast to the bumbling real Barclay. Dwight Schultz did a great job, and it's always great to see the "new" Troi--I wish, somehow, she could have been made a regular on VOY. And the imitations of the crew from fake-Barclay--priceless!

On the same DVD disc, I found myself unable to rewatch NIGHTINGALE or CRITICAL CARE. The latter is a very good, well done episode, it just bores me to tears. But NIGHTINGALE is worse than boring--it presents both Harry and especially Janeway in a terrible light. I *hated* the interaction bw the two when Harry asked for command--neither character seemed remotely like themselves. I now vote for this episode, despite its good intentions (giving Harry some characterization) as the worst of S7.

Thank God that ENDGAME gave us such glorious and moving Janeway and Harry moments.

I still enjoy Inside Man. By season six, the Alpha Quadrant based episodes were preferable to most of the episodes taking place on Voyager in my opinion. They should have just brought Voyager home in order to more fully exploit these episodes and have been done with it in my opinion, but what's done is done.

Sorry folks no matter how hard I try, I just don't like that Barclay character. Maybe it's because Dwight plays him so well, you really believe he's a bumbling fool.

However, I love, love, love Critical Care. Star Trek's editiorial of the HMO.
The only confusing part is, the young Doctor and young patient both look the same.:wtf:

Agreed completely. "Inside Man" is far from the worst season seven episode of Voyager. It has Barclay, Troi, and some delightfully scheming Ferengi.

And yes, I enjoyed seeing the Ferengi again I enjoyed seeing them again in "Acquistion" too. I guess I like Ferengi. in particular, the return of Frank Corsentino (the original DaiMon Bok and the lecherous DaiMon Tog) in his final Ferengi role.

"Critical Care" is alright. It presents a good if a little obvious (and sometimes overplayed) moral about medical ethics, and it's about the Doctor.

I think my loathing of the Ferengi (one of the many reasons I dislike DS9) contributed to my deep dislike of INSIDE MAN at first blush. I can now find it an enjoyable episode, but it took a while.

I think you and I maybe the only ones here that enjoy the Ferengi & Talaxians.

I liked 'Inside Man'. It was go to see how thing were going back at Pathfinder.

And Troi

The Ferengi and their hooker pissed me off, but that's what they're designed to do.

Schultz plays two different Barclays and again does well. I particularly loved the scene where Holo-Barclay snaps at the Doc, who is wearing that ridiculous golf outfit :guffaw:

Inside Man is okay, although I find it hard to believe that Janeway, a trained scientist, would have been so easily duped by the "fake science."

As for Season 7's worst, I can't decide between "Nightengale" and "Renaissance Man."

Nightengale for sure, Renaissance Man was realy good!!!

Re: Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episo

My problem with Renaissance Man is that it is basically a "redo" of "Body and Soul" where all the other actors get to pretend that the doctor is inhabiting their bodies thanks to his holoemitter. The concept was well-done the first time, but, like many plot devices, not so good the second time around.

Even worse, the EMH gives up the warp core and puts the whole crew in danger to "save the captain" who doesn't even have a bruise on her body. I guess her captors could kill her, if they wanted to, but wouldn't it be a little more believable if she were tortured? Or on the verge of death? Instead, she's sitting in a little brig trying to negotiate her escape. Her intimation that the doctor is fooling them and actually plotting her rescue was a much better plot. Maybe they should have let Janeway write the script! :guffaw:

What adds insult to injury, is the scene where he assumes Be'lanna's form and has the ability to run up and around a wall?:wtf:

When did he become Spider-Man?

Re: Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episo

I liked that episode. I thought it was funny when he assumed B'Elanna's form and forgot to add her pregnant belly  that would have been tough to explain

Re: Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episo

I like Inside man but there are awkward moments here and there - Doctor´s suspicion goes nowhere, entire crew except of Seven in the final moment belives to obviously uneffective means of protection and real Barcley is just too lucky to convince Ferengi. Otherwise it´s fine concept. Nice Reg´s reaction to truth about his girlfriend and Paris gag about Iconians at the end.

BTW I like Nightingale as well.

Re: Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episo

It's a do-over of Hope and faith. They got fooled twice. Shame on them. Hells it's a do-over of Hansel and Grettle finding the Gingerbread house.

Nightingale would have been ridiculous even as a first season episode. They got played. Again! Medical supplies. Yesh. Kim had his head up his ass thinking he'd be toffied with instirespect because he thought he was in charge. What a monkey.

From the second they got there and Neelix lied to Janeway, drawing the ship into 2 years of all out war with the Kazon, you'd think they'd start verifying who was full of shite from their potential allies lining up might be?

Everybody lies.

Re: Hard to believe, but I enjoyed (gulp) INSIDE MAN... Worst S7 episo

I happened to like "INSIDE MAN", but it's not a big favorite of mine.

I don't think there is such a thing as "worst" S7 episode or "worst" anything. It's all subjective. What is this need to label everything?
