Okay, this is part two. What's your favorite episode out of those five?

This poll is open for two days.

Ooh, that was tough to narrow down. In the end I went with Trials and Tribble-ations. I just couldn't decide whether I should vote In Purgatory's Shadow or By Inferno's Light. :(

Rapture. :(

Of these five though, I went with Call to Arms, narrowly over T&T. I've actually never been that crazy about the Purgatory/Inferno two-parter...it's decent, but not great.

Call to Arms wins. It is my favorite DS9 season finale and my second favorite Trek cliffhanger behind TNG's The Best of Both Worlds. To me it even though DS9 started what I consider its Dominion era with In Purgatorys Shadow and By Infernos Light, CtA really was the episode for me that changed everything and propelled the show to its most creative and involving period with its last two seasons.

Trials and Tribble-ations for me.

Just about the most fan-pleasing episode in the entire Star Trek franchise. Otherwise, Call To Arms is the next best episode.

Oh man...this is ridiculously tough.

I refuse to vote for a tribute episode as the best, so that eliminates Tribbles. I'm also not voting for a comedy episode when this season was all about building of the Fed/Dom conflict. So that eliminates In the Cards.

Purgatory/Inferno is my all-time favorite two parter because I though both episodes delivered. Too often a great chapter of a multi-part story have a weak link dragging them down, but that was not the case this time.

However, in the end I have to go with Call to Arms. I remember being so incredibly upset that I had to wait months for another episode.

Another big surprise... I always thought the DS9-TOS episode would be the one to garner the votes.

Why are you surprised? Casual fans of DS9 and critics who tuned in on a semi-regularly basis may go for "Trials and Tribble-ations." Hardcore Niners though tend to mostly lean towards "Call To Arms" (of course there are always exceptions).

T & T is well executed, is very entertaining and is a technical marvel. But in the end it is at its core a stunt show, a gimmick episode that is meant to be more of a homage to TOS than a true DS9 story. "Call To Arms" on the other hand addresses the various storyline arcs of the series and manages to shake up the series (and the AQ) once again. It had so many plots going on and it gave every character something to do. At the time there had never been a DS9 episode (or any Trek episode) that was only an hour long that had THAT many guest stars in its credits (and led to more such episodes the final two seasons). It was DS9's greatest cliffhanger and had more moments that are discussed by DS9 fans (including those on these boards) than T & T provided (for example you read more comments about the Defiant joining that large fleet at the end then you do about anything from Trials and Tribble-ations). Most importantly it officially kicked off the Dominion War.

this was HARD.. but I pulled a 180 in the end and voted for T&T. I really love CtoA though; should have gone for that. oh well.
