Star Trek Spoof?

From Sci-Fi Wire:

The FOX network briefly mentioned "Boldly Going Nowhere", a SF sitcom spoof that is in development from the team behind "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". No pilot has been filmed yet.

Why have you registered under a new user name? You could have easily sent T'Bonz a PM and request a name change.

Silly attempt to capitalize on the upcoming hype for ST XI. I'm so over Star Trek spoofs. For that matter, James Bond and Star Wars as well. Totally agreed, not funny anymore.

So are they trying to make money of the Star Trek franchise?

I think most everybody agrees that ST has been spoofed to death.

Now you can scrub the deuterium conduits with the other ensigns :)

Anyway, cool user name!

I thought Mark 1 EMH's did that kind of grunt work. I was hoping for something a little more classy, like cargo bay transporter detail.

Hey, no problem, the cargo bay it is. It just so happens that we have orders to transport 40 metric tons of targ guano to Alpha Ceti IV to help with the terraforming project there....:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Hey, if it's a good Sci-Fi comedy I wouldn't mind it. If it's not thought through and 30 Minutes of "Gosh, Star Trek is Dumb!" than I wouldn't be so pleased. I haven't cared for Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, though. That's a bad omen for me.

I like It's Always Sunny, but I'm not sure. I'm certain it won't be making fun of Star Trek, although it'll definitely parody it, so some might see it that way. But, at the same time, I have to wonder how long the joke can go (then again, sci fi comedy isn't really limited in potential - just look at Futurama).

Not sure if that's a specifically Star Trek spoof or just a comedy that will draw on themes familiar from various space operas. (I nominate nuBSG as the space opera most deserving of the spoof treatment. :D)

I'm hoping it isn't a camp-a-thon but simply a "workplace comedy" that takes place on a spaceship, and the humor procedes from the situation, not from all of us knowing that William Shatner wore a toupee and girdle, etc.

Fox didn't have Boldly Going Nowhere in their upfronts lineup but it's been mentioned as still in development. I guess when Fringe crashes & burns, they'll need a quick replacement...
I never read all the rules and instructions.

Well that's good because the rules have been awol for a while now. Chaos reigns.

why has everyone assumed it's a Star Trek parody? It makes more sense that it would just be comedy mocking all shows in the "space" branch of Sci-Fi as that would have a broader appeal than a straight ST parody. And I'm willing to give it a chance for an episode or two. There's always hope they'll actually try something new and creative.

If nothing else it'll fill the void left by the cancellation of Homeboys in Space.

Things have loosened up a bit since I first joined. I see a lot more foul language going unchecked and a lot more off topic threads or threads drifting off topic.
Well, there's always the Notify the Mod button (

Bah! This is the best Star Trek spoof/parody ever (well, of TNG). Because it's obviously been made by people who've watched every episode seventy three times.
