M*A*S*H-Did Margaret Dump Frank?

The thing there was that I thought Margaret was attracted his Winchester's supposed wealth more than anything else. I'm glad that was pretty much over with quickly.

The Margaret/Hawkeye thing culminated with their very brief "hook up" in that episode where they were stranded. Basically, it didn't work out.

Didn't work out as a continuing relationship, but they remained close after that.

In the episode "Are You Now Margaret" where a congressional aide comes to the camp intent on hauling Margaret before a committee to testify about her friends and acquaintances (effectively ruining her Army career), the Swamp rats and Klinger conspire to photograph the guy trying to get Margaret into bed.

At the very end, when the aide leaves in a huff, Margaret (if you watch the very end of the scene) literally jumps into Pierce's arms with joy. Despite the fact that Winchester and Honeycutt are both standing there.

And yeah, Margaret was attracted to Winchesters money (as well as his supreme surgical skill)........but that is one thing that attracted her to her husband as well.

It is heavily implied that Donald Pennopscotts family was old money as well and very socially conscious.

and I had always seen it as a dirty rotten trick from Margaret, because she did it without breaking up with Frank. This causes us to feel some measure of sympathy for Frank and to lose any we may have had for Margaret

considering frank was a cheating on his wife who he never intended to leave ..
not because he loved her but because of the standing she bought him,
i think that is an odd way of looking at it.
:p

as noted it had became clear to margaret he never intended to leave his wife.

I am glad they "matured" Margaret in the series. When it first started she was a buffon like Frank, but in the later seasons she was a strong, confident nurse. I'm glad they didnt continue making her look like a butt.

Seemed to me that Margaret had a thing for Hawkeye, but she knew it wasn't reciprocated (especially after that one episode mentioned earlier in this thread.) She'd have preferred him, I think, but he wasn't interested.

She seemed to draw the short end of the straw when it came to men. Frank used her, Donald was a scum and Hawkeye wasn't interested.

I agree those who said that Margaret improved as a character after she dumped Frank. She became more independent and less whiny. And as time progressed, she became one of the guys (but that didn't mean she didn't stop fighting with them). Now, don't get me wrong, I love ol' Ferret-Face, but he was huge disservice for Margaret's character.

After reading this thread I realized that I haven't seen this show in ages... so I rushed off to Amazon and ordered the complete set :D

or at least let us borrow them?

Margaret was a bit of a shrew after the divorce, but I don't think it lasted too long. The character was much more well rounded after it though.

Damn! I wish I could do that. Want to buy a copy for me, too?

I pre-odered a set that will come out on Decembre 1st this year ;)

First I will have to buy all the seasons of The West Wing (season 2 should arrive any day now) and season 6 of Smallville :D
