Quite good but not excellent but Above average doesn't seem fair either. Too bad we don't have a "Great" option.
This seems to be I guess a three-part finale like "Exodus" in season one. I can't wait to see the finale in two weeks.
I'll just sort of have a stream of thought about this episode:
Where are they going to take the island?
I liked the take-charge Sun we saw. She isn't the same woman she was when she left. I liked the development that she used her Oceanic settlement to buy an interest in her father's company. I was a little surprised by his crying at seeing Sun at her homecoming. I guess he isn't all bad.
Dan knew of second protocol but Charlotte didn't.
I was surprised Juliet didn't know what the Orchid was.
What does Dan know of Orchid?
I liked the homecoming.
Michelle Forbes is an Oceanic representative. Is Oceanic in on the conspiracy? It seems the Six came up with the cover story all on their own and Mrs Decker is out of the loop on this.
Smart touch for the beach residents to try to call on the satellite phone to Frank but equally smart for him to not have the call go through but to go to MONITOR mode so as to not alert Martin. We still don't know what the device that was attached to him last week is.
This is the first time we saw Jack's mom since season one's "White Rabbit".
Like the realistic touch of holding a news conference with the survivors and having media outlets there from all over the world.
We learn from Michael in a conversation with Sun/Jin how he got from the island back to NY in more detail. I wondered about this since "Meet Kevin Johnson" didn't address it. He probably ended up on the same place as the Six did.
How are the commandos going to torch the island?
I liked how the show drops these big revelations where it is so broad and vague and then sit back and watch as the writers methodically unfold it bit-by-bit. Case in point with the Oceanix Six. I wondered who the six were then why only those six then last week it hinted that the first group off the island would the the Oceanic Six and before they could return for the others the island would be moved. Well tonight they toyed with us a bit and turned expectations on their head with some twists and turns. I figured Jin would wait behind while Sun was the first to go to the freighter but then he hops in there with her along with Dan and some faceless extras, Jack takes off with Kate, then Jack takes off with Sawyer, then Kate goes back with Sayid. Some are paired with individuals we know won't get off the island and going in the wrong direction from the beach and the raft.
I have no idea how they'll end up coming together in becoming the Six. Initially weeks ago I just assumed that it was more organized why these six got off the island but now it seems more like random happenstance and that they might just be forced into it because of spiraling conditions around them.
Kate/Sayid are caught by Richard and the Others who were presumably the ones Ben signalled and probably are en route to the Orchid to help eliminate the commandos. Jack, Sawyer and Frank are headed to the Orchid to find Hurley and possibly John. So some of the Six are coming back together. Are they choppered by Frank? Is the freighter going to explode killing everyone including Jin(Is this how he dies?), Michael, Desmond but obviously Sun and Aaron get off the freighter. It is compelling to watch. I love how the writers toy with our expectations and in the process come up with an even more interesting scenario that one envisioned.
Does Dan know the Orchid is where you move the island and that is the reason for the urgency in his voice to get off the because he doesn't want to go God-knows-where when the island moves or because he knows they are going to wipe everyone out? And Dan is screwed if Desmond is killed off because he won't have a constant anymore unless he choose Charlotte?
I guess the commandos went to the Orchid not to torch the island but capture Ben because Widmore told them that that is where he would go
I wondered a few weeks ago how the suvivors would be explained to the public after telling everyone that they all had perished. Apparently they didn't do a survey to confirm the number of dead to match the manifest otherwise these six coming back would raise all sorts of questions.
We don't know yet how those six get together and get from island to Sumba.
I don't think Kate ever met or crossed paths with Richard.
How did Ben first learn how to move the island? Did Jacob tell him? or did Widmore show him? Or Richard? Also I think perhaps we got a hint about what Widmore might have meant when he told Ben in The Shape of Things to Come "everything you have you took from me". Ben seemed like he had moved the island before hence knowing how to do it and that it was difficult and dangerous. What if Ben moved the island while Widmore was away and that is why Widmore has been trying to find the island again. And how many times was the island moved? And if it has where was its origin?
Must be hard to not be able to talk to anyone but the other five about what you went through on the island.
What happened to the freighter since not the means off the island? What happened to Desmond? Did it explode?
Jack DID learn that his sister was Claire and his nephew is Aaron. I thought maybe Juliet would tell Jack given the bloodwork or those files they acquired on all the survivors but I think this was actually the perfect way to facilitate this secret coming out into the open. Plus interesting Christian's grandson was at his memorial and Claire's mom got to see her grandson unbeknowst to her. And I guess Jack never crossed paths with Christian on the island. We also learned Claire's mom came out of a coma. So Claire made the right decision back in "Par Avion" not to take her off life support.
Who placed the explosives on the freighter?
I think Desmond might have given the wrong bearing to the crewman to get to the island. He said 305 I thought it was 325.
