Say it..DAMMIT!!!

^^Not for the women I know. Conflicting impulses is a human trait, not something exclusive to females. But in our society women are told that it's OK to share their feelings, and men are told they shouldn't, so there is this myth that women are more emotional.

One of my favorites from Journey to Babel

Amanda: "Logic. I'm sick to death of logic!"
Spock: "Emotional. isn't she?"
Sarek: "It would seem." (or something to that effect.)
Spock: "Yes. Why did you marry her?"
Sarek: "At the time, it seemed the logical thing to do."

From TNG 'Hollow Pursuits:'

"I am the Goddess of Empathy."--holographic Troi
"Computer, discontinue program!" real Troi
"Computer, belay that order." Commander Riker

"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you oughtta go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q (Q Who?)

Point is, politically correct or not, 1968 or 2008...is it any less true either way?

One of my favorite things in "The Lights of Zetar" is how Kirk continually refers to Lietuenant Mira Romaine as "the girl." "What about the girl?" "Is the girl all right?" "They're hurting the girl!" etc. :vulcan:

"For the world is hollow, and I have touched the sky..."

I love that one. Allow me to quote a larger piece of the dialog, please. :)

"Years ago, I climbed the mountains, even though it was forbidden."
"Why is it forbidden?"
"I am not sure, but things are not as they teach us. For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky."

I have to disagree. I teach 10th grade History, and I am utterly amazed at how history has no bearing in this current generation. If I were to use "rosebud" in a quote or, "STELLLA!!", they would look at me with lost expression. But the few times I have done Khan over the years, they kids no immediatly it is Kirk...
Since you're a teacher, then, I hope you view it as an opportunity to educate them on the classics of American cinema, rather than a reason to piss and moan about the stupidity of our nation's children.

Fine, it's a measure of cultural ignorance, then. But it still stands that I hope RobertScorpio is seizing the opportunity rather than whinging about it on a messageboard.
Personally I hope you both learn proper use of the English language prior to criticizing or teaching. When you are typing, the misspelled words are underlined in red. That is your first clue. :vulcan: If you are still not sure, may I suggest using the EDIT features?
I used bold to highlight your improper wording.

This is hardly a useful post, Sector 7. It's entirely personal and doesn't help matters. Please keep your posting more appropriate to the topic and not other posters.

Even though this isn't an original line I liked the way it was said.

Chang from TUC
"Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!"

What was that line about Kirk's glasses in STIV? "Weren't those a gift from Dr. McCoy? Yes, they were. And that's the beauty of it-they will be again."

My friend and I love to quote lines from movies, and then guess where they came from. What are some of TREK's greatest quotes? I actually believe TREK has the most famous ONE WORD movie quote of all time..you guessed it..

KAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHN!!!

But there are famous quotes from TREK we Trek fans could recount, and I don't just mean BEAM ME UP or LIVE LONG AND PROSPER...what are some of your quotes from STAR TREK(s) past?

Mathew Weer lives!!!

one i heard today infact, "there are really only two kinds of people in this world (galaxy?). Ones who believe in themselves and ones who dont"

or something like that

My favorites, which I'm surprised haven't shown up already come from DS9: In the Pale Moonlight.

People are dying out there, every day. Entire worlds are struggling for their freedom. And here I am still worrying about the finer points of morality
--Sisko

That's why you came to me, isn't it Captain? Because you knew I could do those things that you weren't capable of doing. Well, it worked. And you'll get what you wanted: a war between the Romulans and the Dominion. And if your conscience is bothering you, you should soothe it with the knowledge that you may have just saved the entire Alpha Quadrant, and all it cost was the life of one Romulan senator, one criminal... and the self-respect of one Starfleet officer. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain

Great quote...one of the best!

Rob

TUC had some good lines. :)

Spock: There is an old Vulcan proverb: "Only Nixon can go to China."

Chang: "To be or not to be?" That is the question which preoccupies our people, Captain Kirk. We need breathing room.
Kirk: Earth. Hitler. 1938.

Uhura: Captain, I have orders from Starfleet Command. We are to put back to spacedock immediately... to be decommissioned.
Spock: If I were human, I believe my response would be... "Go to hell." If I were human.
Chekov: Course heading, Captain?
Kirk: Second star to the right... and straight on 'til morning.

Kirk: Captain's Log, Stardate 9529.1. This is the final cruise of the Starship Enterprise under my command. This ship and her history will shortly become the care of another crew. To them and their posterity will we commit our future. They will continue the voyages we have begun and journey to all the undiscovered countries boldy going where no man, where no one... has gone before.

my fave quote would have to be the one dukat used to weyuon i think it goes
" you don't destroy your enemy you make the realize it was wrong to oppose you in the first place make them aknowledge your greatness"
weyuon " then you kill them?"
"possibly"

cant remember the exact words but these seem close enough
