Can they use that? I thought the Lucas-haters had it copyrighted. Some might call it ROC = Rape of Childhood.![]()
We can? Do please explain. We already can see that prequals don't work.

That's perfectly reasonable. It will simply be known as TOCWNAEFLNWIRHOR.
The Original Characters With New Actors Except For Leonard Nimoy Who Is Reprising His Original Role.![]()
Oh, sure -- use logic and facts and, like, reason and stuff! Sheesh. Not to belabor the point, but TOS stands for The ORIGINAL Series.
This is not the original series.
So in response to the question: No.
Sure you don't mean "pedants"?*wanders off mumbling something about pendants*
Nope..
While I'm looking forward to the movie..
TOS is TOS and can not be replaced, only copied..
I guess he's lumping Enterprise and the most recent Star Wars trilogy in with J.J.'s film.
There's nothing wrong with the concept of prequels. Was Enterprise miscast and poorly written? Yes. Did George Lucas write crappy dialogue and not do a good job of directing his actors in the PT? Yes. Does that mean prequels should be invalidated as a means of storytelling? Hardly.
Let J.J. fall on his face. Then we can lump him in with ENT and the PT.
No, we've seen that most filmmakers do prequels badly, not that they don't work. Casino Royale is, essentially, a prequel, but I thought it worked pretty well.I still don't understand the point of all these prequals. Seriously, when the 24th Century ended, I was hoping for a 25th Century show or possibly further into the future. We already can see that prequals don't work.
Of if it does well enough for a sequel what would that be?
Star Trek II
or Star Trek XII

Well, there's TOS for the original serious, TNG for The Next Generation, DS9 for Deep Space Nine, VOY for Voyager, and ENT for Enterprise. So in essense that this film is TOS era, will it also be considered TOS or will fans refer it to "New TOS"?
Absolutely... I mean, how often do we hear the name "Nems-a-mess" now?STXI...?
STJJ...?
nuST...?
STR...?
STINO...?
Beats me, but within the fan community, what we call it will greatly depend on it being good or bad, and who it pisses off.
