Will Trek XI be remembered as "TOS"?

It'll probably be tagged as Star Trek, or perhaps just Trek.

No doubt there may be those that will call it TINO. ;)

It will simply be known as TOCWNAEFLNWIRHOR.

The Original Characters With New Actors Except For Leonard Nimoy Who Is Reprising His Original Role. :techman:

Not to belabor the point, but TOS stands for The ORIGINAL Series.

This is not the original series.

So in response to the question: No.

Oh, sure -- use logic and facts and, like, reason and stuff! Sheesh. :p

*wanders off mumbling something about pendants*

Nope..

While I'm looking forward to the movie..

TOS is TOS and can not be replaced, only copied..

Perhaps I'm interpreting this question differently. I see it as "Will STXI and any sequels be considered part of TOS since it concerns that era?" I'd say it could be considered as part of TOS movies but not simply TOS. I tend to think of Trek as divided into ENT, TOS, TOS movies, TNG/DS9/VOY, and TNG movies.

I guess he's lumping Enterprise and the most recent Star Wars trilogy in with J.J.'s film.

There's nothing wrong with the concept of prequels. Was Enterprise miscast and poorly written? Yes. Did George Lucas write crappy dialogue and not do a good job of directing his actors in the PT? Yes. Does that mean prequels should be invalidated as a means of storytelling? Hardly.

Let J.J. fall on his face. Then we can lump him in with ENT and the PT.

I didn't mean to diss J.J. It's just that I was hoping to keep moving forward, not to go backward.

Yes, I was refering to Enterprise and the recent Star Wars trilogies. Thanks cardinal, seems you know me too well :)

I still don't understand the point of all these prequals. Seriously, when the 24th Century ended, I was hoping for a 25th Century show or possibly further into the future. We already can see that prequals don't work.
No, we've seen that most filmmakers do prequels badly, not that they don't work. Casino Royale is, essentially, a prequel, but I thought it worked pretty well.

I think ST11 will be known as "The White Aldebaran" :D

Of course if it does well enough for a sequel what would that be?

Star Trek II
or Star Trek XII

I guess if their is a sequel it will have a subtitle, so most likely it will be referred to by an abbreviation or the initials of the subtitle (like TMP etc.). If not Star Trek XII would be the better solution in my opinion to avoid confusion, since there already is a Star Trek II

NST.... New Star Trek
It works for me... I like the K.I.S.S. method. Keep It Simple, Stupid, but then again I tend to use that stupid logic thing. :vulcan:
(Or maybe NST could stand for Nimoy Star Trek... just to piss off the Shat fans. :guffaw:)

Perhaps they'll go the route of the Batman movies (Batman Begins and The Dark Knight): the second one doesn't even have Batman in the title. Maybe it'll be Star Trek and To Boldly Go.

Well, there's TOS for the original serious, TNG for The Next Generation, DS9 for Deep Space Nine, VOY for Voyager, and ENT for Enterprise. So in essense that this film is TOS era, will it also be considered TOS or will fans refer it to "New TOS"?

I'd propose something like:
TOS 2.0
TOS2
TOS Reboot

I think 'TOS2' would be a niftier shorthand for this setting, should it turn out to consist of more than just one film.

Nu BSG

Nu Who

Nu Trek

Sloppy TXT, urban, therefore "kewl", I suppose.

Bah, kids today... why can't they use proper grammar, like what I do! :p

Beats me, but within the fan community, what we call it will greatly depend on it being good or bad, and who it pisses off.
Absolutely... I mean, how often do we hear the name "Nems-a-mess" now? :)
