Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

ROFLMFAO
I sending this on to some people.

and this new GM I think is a bad move

...Ah well. Onto cheering for the Habs. Maybe we'll get at least one Canadian team into the finals.

Just because they're the only Canadian team left doesn't make them "Canada's Team" in a lot of eyes.

Go Flyer's!!!!!!

^^ Cute avatar.

I've decided to try just watching the games and not cheer for anyone in particular.

If the Habs get to the finals I'll cheer for them.

Has anyone seen this yet?

Link
Between the "downfall" of HD DVD, the Xbox thing and this (all very funny), this film is dangerously close to being ruined for me. I use this film on occasion when I teach a course that includes the Second World War but I'm afraid now that if I show this to the students one of them (or worse, I) will start laughing at this scene.

Oddly, I actually have Downfall sitting on my counter after renting it today. Now I'm worried I won't be able to sit through that scene with a straight face. :(

Well, since the Bruins are out of it (stupid Habs :scream:), I'm now pulling for Joe Thornton and the Sharks. Go Sharks! :techman:

Hey someone else who might be focusing on the Dallas/San Jose series. It seemed like I was the only one focusing and posting on Round one against Calgary, which was a shame because it was a classic series.

I haven't been able to see as many games as I'd like to, because I'm often at work at the same time, but I'm off on Friday, so at least I'll get to see the series opener. :D

I've always kinda liked the Sharks (admittedly, when I was a kid it was just because I thought they had a cool logo :p), and since Thornton used to be a Bruin it just feels right to root for them. Here's hoping they do well.

True enough. But I'm only really interested in the Playoffs when the Canucks are in it, and even then I'm no hardcore fan. So I'm content to cheer for geography. But I know I'd rather not see the Rangers, Red Wings or Flyers win.

Well, I'll agree with two out of three there (hate the Red Wings with a passion. Slightly bettter with the Rangers, I only intensely dislike them).

Damn, the Flyers are incapable of holding onto a lead.

^I told you they'd blow that lead, didn't I? (yes, I believe I did)

I don't get Versus, so I was watching the realtime score on ESPN. Twenty-nine seconds to go, and the score changes from 3-2 to 3-3. DAMN IT.

Detroit also seemed to do its best to blow a lead, but apparently they haven't developed that particular skill to the perfection of the Flyers.

I have forgiven Detroit for sweeping the Flyers in 1997. It was time.

Wow; what an amazing Game 1 between the Penguins and the Rangers! The Pens had their first 3-goal comeback of the season and really got their home crowd back into it.

I really wish I could have watched it on TV, but I listened to Mike Lange's radio call of the game (he's entertaining, that's for sure) and just finished watching the highlights online.

Looking forward to Game 2, which barring anything unforeseen, will be the first time I will get to watch a Pens playoff game this year!

I had the good fortune to be at it. It was quite fun with the "white out" theme. (Everybody got a white t-shirt and towel on entrance.) They pulled it off well, too. It really did look a bit like the stands had been snowed over. The audiences have been a great change in pace from years past, too. Pittsburgh hasn't had very enthusiastic playoff turnouts for years. But these crowds have been loud, enthusiastic, and just great fun to be a part of.

Talk about a nail-biter. I think every heart in the Igloo skipped a beat when that last Rangers shot riccocheted off of the goal post. You can't get a better, more exciting ending than that.

Damn Turco looked great tonight. Also, it was really interesting to see Dallas just keep San Jose pretty much on their own end of the ice throughout that entire overtime. The Sharks played a great game tonight I thought (All thier losses haven't been great games) but Dallas was even better. A Very entertaining game 1 and I look forward to Game 2. Hopefully the Sharks can even the series. If they don't, things won't look very good for, what, the 4th year in a row.

Hmm, Penn State does this for big football games and we were told to 'cease and desist' by the Colorado Avalanche because they were the first to do it as the Winnipeg Jets. We can still wear all white, but the term 'white out' is verboten.

Flyers would be up 2-0 if they hadn't blown game one. Still, I feel good going into Philly tied at 1.

I'm really hoping for a cross-state final.

If the Pens and Flyers played in the Eastern Conference finals, I'd imagine it would be open warfare in the middle of the state. :D

I know it's only game two, but I am nervous for tonight's Sharks game. It's a must win since it will suck having to go to Dallas down 0-2. I hope they can turn it around.
