Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

Nah, people gonna have a meltdown whatever they do. So they should just do it, and if it's good people (except the really special ones) will accept it.

So if people dont accept it they are "the really special ones"? Ok. But I think its more about the product itself. Not everyone is ever going to like the same thing.

I'm of the opinion that when Trek comes back, everything made up until that point will be considered an alternate reality. I tend to think a true reboot of the franchise is coming.

Probably will be a true reboot. It just depends will they reboot it with Kirk and crew or do a soft reset in the prime with a whole new crew decades after the crews we all know and they don't constantly mention them or bump into the same missions previous crews did.

Everyone's gonna like what they like, but it'll be a very particular subset of the fandom who declare a well-liked Trek null and void specifically because the angle on the Enterprise's nacelle pylons is four degrees too different from previous incarnations, or the phaser beams were the wrong shade of orange.

Ill agree SNW was well liked when it first started. Even I liked some of those early episodes. Buy once they started the comedy and gimmick episides in season 2 the show started to go down a path I think some didnt like. The show scored its lowest viewer rating and reviews in season 4. So I think its more than nacelle pylons causing it to free fall in the ratings and reviews. Its all just personal taste when it comes to story. We all have our own personal journey with Star Trek.

I wasn't speaking on SNW, which has been flawed from the get-go and only achived flashes of it's potential. I've seen amazing Treks picked apart over the most insane continuity shit.

On the other end you have Section 31, which is so bad it's mostly been left alone even by the nit-pickers.

Indeed. It's understandable to a degree because much of fan investment wasn't the show, but the ancillary material, published manuals and timelines. Over time, that carries more weight than the show itself.

SNW is the latest victim.
