Will SFA Season 2 Actually Air?

That young people are not watching or in very low numbers. My trip to the theater confirmed it.
Your trip to the theatre to see a movie that's over forty years old proves nothing. If a new Trek movie were out right now and the audience consisted only of senior citizens with no one younger than middle age, than you might have a point. Young people not flocking to the theatre to see a movie which could very well have been released before their parents were born is completely meaningless.

You have a different opinion. Thats fine.

Well it really isn't an opinion. It is basic logic based on the scenario you describe.

Its my opinion that star trek is not growing the fanbase and the current fanbase is aging. You do not need to agree with it or agree with how I got to my opinion. There really isn't much more to say.

I've already went over this. So I won't repeat myself.
It's not empirical though. It's your experience and a valid one, but I could not generate empirical data from. Now, if it's repeated again and again then we shift.

And I don't know if Trek is dying or not nor have I been convinced it really matters. I won't stop being a Star Trek fan because it is no longer made. Hell, I was barely watching Trek in the 90s and still enjoyed TOS. I think focusing on production numbers ignores what fans can actually do to encourage others to check out Trek.

I think it shows a measure of apathy and surrender of responsibility to expect the production company to do the fans' work.

We literally have no data on the ratings of SNW season 4, suffice to say it has not made the top 10 Nielsen list of streamers. But that’s a pretty small list with a lot of competition. Let’s not forget that prices are up across the world at the moment on almost everything. Entertainment is typically one of the first things to get cut from people’s budgets.

As for the TOS movie rereleases, the same point about budgets being cut for entertainment. Going to see the movies wasn’t even a thought in my brain. Last weekend, I had other things to do, and I didn’t even consider going and seeing a movie and episode I owned at home, have seen multiple times and could watch anytime. And the only numbers I can find are that the entirety of the rerelease brought in $1.22 million for 9/4 - 9/8 on 780 screens. Those aren’t great numbers. But I think it’s more indicative of the things I suggested: it’s a nostalgic rerelease when many who would go can watch it at home or spend a few bucks to stream it as opposed to paying $15-$20 for a movie ticket plus concessions when prices for everything else are sky high.

Without data, it is an ignorant opinion.

Wow. Smh. The Nielsen data is low. SFA had low viewership. SNWs viewership is way down. Yet you decide to call my opinion ignorant? You can stop now. Im not playing your game.

You presented your opinion as fact, that’s the problem.

I never said it was a fact. It was my conclusion. If you don't like it that's fine.

Where is your data? Suffice to say it hasn’t made the top 10 for Nielsen? Which again is a very, very small list. There are MANY streaming programs producing new content now. So where is your data?

It isn't intended to be a game. Without viewership data no one's opinions are worth the keystrokes used to type them. I'm sorry that I'm not taking YouTubers with clear axes to grind as an unimpeachable source.

Im done talking about this. After what bill said im no longer talking about this today. You can find the minutes if you wish and compare. Theyre out there. Just search Google. If you don't agree and think the current shows are massive successes thats totally fine.

They’re not out there. I have googled. Haven’t found anything, I don’t think the shows are a massive success. I don’t think they’re abject failures either. I think they’re moderately rated streaming shows that are casualties of a studio regime change. I think you want them to be failures. I think you’ll say whatever you can to try to convince yourself and others that it’s true. I think that whenever you are asked to provide a source, you can’t do so, so you run. That’s what I think.
