End of an era, for at least some B5 fans: Keith DeCandido recently completed the main part of the B5 rewatch on Reactormag.com. And I'm caught up. I've tried to start a rewatch once or twice before, but following along with KRAD's posts kept me going (if sometimes a week or two behind) from "Midnight on the Firing Line," which he posted about on April 1, 2024, to "Sleeping in Light," which he posted about on July 27, 2026, and which I watched tonight. Coming soon: his weekly takes on the B5 TV movies, with more to follow.
I've found myself in agreement with KRAD for the most part. He's enthusiastic about the good things, sometimes sharply critical of the less good things, but overall... Babylon 5 was worth watching again.
^I've felt he was a bit harsh on the last few episodes of S5, but even when I don't agree with him, his reviews are always interesting, often entertaining, and sometimes insightful. A very worthwhile read for any fan.
Really enjoyed rewatching The Gathering earlier this week. Michael O'Hare was so magnetic as Sinclair in it. Such a shame his mental illness brought a quick end to the character.
I fell into a show hole and decided to give Babylon 5 a try. I know it was a popular show, but had never had a chance to see it. I bought season 1 and I've watched the pilot and first episode, and I gotta tell you, so far I'm not impressed. It seems kinda cheezy. Is it gonna get better?
I just watched "Thirdpsace" for the first time in...awhile...anticipating KRAD's review.
I think the best part of the whole thing, though it makes Zack look like a bit of an idiot, is his "conversation" with Lyta in the tube.
Of the four films, "In the Beginning" is easily my favorite, with "Call to Arms" being...okay-ish for a pilot. The other two are ultimately pretty forgettable.
Plus JMS really needed to get away from his trend of, "there are ancient evils out there". It worked fine for B5, but it feels a little underbaked here because we don't learn much of anything about them, and then he does it again in "Legends of the Rangers".
I’ve also realized between Thirdspace, Legends of the Rangers, and The Road Home, he really has a thing for “evil city in a place that should not have a city at all, evil or otherwise.”
I'm sure I said this earlier in this thread, but I really, really didn't care for how the Shadows were retooled for TRH. And while the ending is interesting, to me it opens up a lot of questions about how the timeline works out in the Brave New World.

I'm amused that even Bruce Boxleitner on the commentary track refers to "John Nuke-'em Sheridan" after the events of this, "Z'ha'dum" and the Black Star incident. JMS could do some amazing writing, but he also could have an unfortunate ability to fall back on certain tropes.
