I must be oblivious, then, because that never occurred to me.It’s always so funny to me that Moore and Braga for years denied that Cochrane in First Contact was an allegory for Gene when it couldn’t be more obvious.
I believe Moore copped to it at a con Q&A a few years back.I must be oblivious, then, because that never occurred to me.
You said they denied it "for years." Have they acknowledged it at some point?
You can tell, because they're drawn so sympathetically.JK letting her inner self onto the page, it seems.
Keep the junk and throw out the good stuff. Makes sense.Even though I did like a season and a half of Disco.....ALL OF KURTZMAN TREK. Except maybe Picard. It's been all over the place.
Laser.Dcanonize the phaser cannon

No further explanation needed. Just do it.Decanonize Andy Dick ...

Good question. It was probably a cost cutting move.Decaonize the decommissioning of the Ent-F, and the Titan-A being rechristened the Ent-G. The Ent-F had another decade in her, and its kind of unsettling that these starships are so disposable now and are only good for about a decade and a bit, when the OG USS Enterprise lasted 40 years. And as for the Ent-G, I'm fine with Seven of Nine being her captain...just why that ship as the Ent-G?
How about we just de-canonize the concept of canon?
Indeed. How about we just de-canonize the concept of canon?
The only things I think need decanonizing are the saints and martyrs, whether self-appointed or otherwise.
No more "St. Terry" or "St. Gene" or whoever. And all those people who live in constant agony because of some aspect of Trek need to get off their crosses (gridirons, wheels, please choose your pain...) and grow up.
Amongst all the complaints seen here -- and there are many -- I don't know that I have ever seen anyone upset solely because something isn't what Terry Matalas or even Gene Roddenberry would do. In fact, I would say most people around here feel that in spite of creating the show, Roddenberry's creative instincts quite often missed the mark. I certainly don't think he is treated as a saint of Trekdom. The only things I think need decanonizing are the saints and martyrs, whether self-appointed or otherwise.

Curious why Voyager gets a pass since it, too, betrayed its own premise by the second episode.Everything after Voyager. (Yes, even Enterprise, which betrayed its own premise in its opening episode.)
Oh, I've seen it. Gene's Vision™ is a BBS meme for a reason. "Upset," of course, may not be literal, because who knows how posters really feel. But figuratively upset, posting pushback against an idea because it goes against G'sV™, absolutely. It does happen.Amongst all the complaints seen here -- and there are many -- I don't know that I have ever seen anyone upset solely because something isn't what Terry Matalas or even Gene Roddenberry would do. How so?(Yes, even Enterprise, which betrayed its own premise in its opening episode.)
