So, do Star Trek and Doctor Who literally share a universe, or was the Doctor “visiting” one universe from another? (Though my interpretation of Doctor Who since about 2005 is that time is constantly being rewritten without the Time Lords guarding it, with histories and even the physical natural history of the universe’s evolution ever-shifting, so all of Trek could be just one of those infinite splitoff strands, I guess. On the other hand, DW has referred to Trek as fictional, though also as someplace the Doctor could potentially visit.)

Given that 10 discusses jumping alternate timelines and universes was easier when the Time Lords were at their full strength it is not unreasonable to me that he jumped to the Star Trek timeline or some variant there of.

They're definitely making it very explicit at this point Pelia was once the Doctor's companion. I guess the real question now is, which Doctor did she travel with? I know, statistically most likely to be Tom Baker or David Tennant.

For some reason, I picture it as being Colin Baker. Of course, for all we know, it could be some future incarnation that TV Doctor Who hasn’t even gotten to yet.

Sure — but 15 says they still have to visit them sometime, implying the Doctor hasn’t actually done so before then. That might support my speculation that Pelia traveled with a “future” incarnation the BBC hasn’t gotten to yet.

I think what Fred is saying is that the Fifteenth Doctor actually says "we need to visit Star Trek sometime." Which would mean no previous Doctors have been to the Trek universe.

Of course, the comics did give us Matt Smith visiting TNG and Tom Baker visiting TOS, but I guess non canon and all that fun stuff.

Exactly. Of course, they could always just say he forgot, or was one of the random lost memories that comes with one regeneration or another, or whatever.

I know the producers have said the Who crossover fell through with SNW but the several references and this time really having Pike visibly react to it and that there do seem to be some times wimey titles later in the season? Really makes me think there’s still going to be a crossover. We’ll see though. Could be way off.

But considering they are likely telling the truth, I’d be very curious to know just how close they really got and what caused it to fall through.

I just don't understand how Trek and Who being in the same universe makes sense. I mean shouldn't Starfleet encountered some Daleks or Weeping Angels or something, Also I am pretty sure Star Trek has been referenced as a tv show on Who, before.

Since Star Trek is a tv show in the who verse I'm gonna say no. Also how many times have the Daleks invaded earth???? In the past/present and future and NO mention of it in any of the Star Trek shows??? It would not be line up.
....if they did some thing this stupid I would never watch anything from 2009-2027 ever again.

As I said in the episode thread once shows do these types of gimmicks they are totally bankrupt with ideas and near the end of their runs. So they have to get self referential and do gimmicks like Crossover, puppets and Musicals ... . (Puppets and the musical which were stolen ideas from Buffy and Angel and done on several scifi/fant shows now)

Hopefully she was just being playful and watched the show. If they make this a thing both shows wiil never recover from it. In fact I think both Franchises are beyond fixing, except maybe for a complete reboot. But at this point in my life I'm not interested in that either.
