NFL 2026: The Mendoza Line

Jacoby Brissett plans to attend Cardinals minicamp. I guess someone finally told him that when the team doesn't care if he plays or not and no one else wants him to be their starter, he has no leverage. Sure it sucks to be underpaid as a starting QB, but this is your last and only chance to actually start (before eventually being benched for the rookie because the team sucks and keeps losing)!

For them to expect him to go stand behind that offensive line for 17 games, he should be making in the ballpark of $20 million.

It's obvious the Cardinals want Manning-Harrison 2.0.

Brissett went 1-11 as the starter last year and they want more of that this year. But he has no leverage because they'll just go with Gardner Minshew. And no matter who is starting the season at QB, Carson Beck is going to finish the season.

Here's something I just learned today. Wes Welker was a wide receiver during Tom Brady's prime and Peyton Manning's elite season in Denver. He never won a Super Bowl with them, going 0-3. He also lost a Super Bowl as the WR coach with the 49ers.

Henry Ruggs denied parole.

NFL considers personal conduct review of Stefon Diggs closed.

Aldon Smith has died at the age of 36. Cause not revealed.

Aldon Smith was the type of person who seemed to have a short life anyway. 36 is so young, but I'm not entirely surprised considering his "troubled" history.

Brendan Sorsby forgoing all the college drama and entering the NFL supplemental draft.

Aldon Smith's family donating his brain to CTE studies in Boston.

YouTube suggested to me a video about how one player destroyed an NFL franchise -- how Russell Wilson destroyed the Broncos. This is a new video from 2026, meaning the creator knows the Broncos immediately cut bait after two seasons and made the playoffs in Bo Nix's first two seasons. Yes, the trade helped the Seahawks eventually win a Super Bowl and yes the Broncos were terrible in Wilson's two seasons there, but the Broncos recovered pretty fast.

Now I'd say DeShaun Watson destroyed the Browns, but is it destruction if they were already a piece of junk?

Ouch!

A good decision. He would've been the only player in the supplemental draft anyway and it just reeks of trying to get around responsibility for his actions. His petition didn't even try to address what he did wrong.

49ers considering moving their practice facility away from the substation, even though they're not saying that last part.

Sports teams with Jimmy Haslam as part of their ownership group have traded Myles Garrett and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the same month.
