Today is draft day, so time to start a new thread. Are you ready for some football?

Kyler Murray is a Viking.
Tua Tagovailoa is a Falcon.
Geno Smith is a Jet.
Malik Willis is a Dolphin.
Kirk Cousins is a Raider.
Justin Fields is a Chief.
Mitch Trubisky is a Titan.
Andy Dalton is an Eagle.
Teddy Bridgewater is a Lion.
Russell Wilson is unsigned.
Aaron Rodgers is being his usual undecided self.

Rams take Ty Simpson at 13 with a Matt Stafford extension in the works. Seems like a reach and a wasted pick.

WR Makai Lemon was on the phone with the Steelers who were going to draft him at 21. Then he got a call from the Eagles who traded up to draft him at 20.

The Cards taking Love at 3 just seems poor. Not because of the player, but because they had so many other holes to fill. Then there is the fact that RB's drafted in the top 10 over the last decade (Barkley, Bijan Robinson, Austin Jeanty) didn't turn their teams into world beaters.

I heard on my local sports radio this morning that it was the owner who made the selection because he had been in contact with the family and told them Simpson was a first round pick, when everyone else was predicting him to go in the second or third round.
The Rams coach wasn't consulted about the selection and is reportedly very upset with the situation.

The Mendoza Line is a baseball thing.

Not the owner, the General Manager Les Snead.

I’m surprised by the pick but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. Snead and McVay have proven themselves to be pretty savvy, draft wise. On the other hand, Bennett hasn’t done a thing for us, so…

I guess we’ll see.

It reminds me of when the Broncos took Tommy Maddox in 92. Hard to see anything good coming from this. QB’s largely have fragile egos.

You never know how a QB will turn out. They might be a head case (Ryan Leaf), lazy (JaMarcus Russell), too slow to read or react to the speed of an NFL defense (Dan McGwire), can't throw to the left side of the field (Rick Mirer), have poor accuracy (EJ Manuel), have off-the-field demons (Art Schlichter), or the team destroys them with a terrible offensive line and they get sacked 100 times a season (David Carr). Then you have someone like Anthony Richardson who can make throws 99% of other QBs can't make, yet is unable to make the throws that 99% of other QBs can make.

I know the packers chose two defensive players. Packers did not have a first round pick because of M. Parsons but I'm fine with that.

I’m still trying to understand how The Mendoza Line applies to football…

I think it is just a joke.
