How dare you. Senator Palpatine is the only one who can save the Republic.Senator Palpatine in Episode I is as sympathetic as the character should ever be, and even then he's shady and clearly up to no damn good.
From a certain point of view.Trying to make the Emperor sympathetic has gotta be up there with some of the most anti-Star Wars ideas I've ever heard. He's the physical embodiment of evil.
Worked for Vader.Trying to make the Emperor sympathetic has gotta be up there with some of the most anti-Star Wars ideas I've ever heard. He's the physical embodiment of evil.

I guess so. He wasn't quite presented the same way the Emperor was, though. Even in ANH it's clear that there's some power behind Vader, and he's not treated as the ultimate evil the way the Emperor was. Tarkin was also pretty clearly shown to be his equal in terms of authority, if not power.Worked for Vader.
Big scary guy in black armor. What's not to love?I guess so. He wasn't quite presented the same way the Emperor was, though. And Darth Vader has Christmas spirit.Big scary guy in black armor. What's not to love?![]()

Sick burn, bro.Darth Vader has always been hot. Especially for those few minutes that one day.
Should have chosen one, not the other.Leaped when he should have looked.
There's also the fact that Vader has always been depicted as someone who fell from virtue into becoming evil. Even in ANH when we're supposed to believe he's Obi-Wan's former pupil who betrayed and murdered Luke's father, the clear implication was Vader was once a good guy who turned bad guy. Palpatine on the other had has always been depicted as Evil and nothing else.I guess so. He wasn't quite presented the same way the Emperor was, though.
