Spoilers Russell T. Davies' Second Turn as Doctor Who Showrunner

After finally getting to watch DMP 1 & 3 [combining it with ep 2], I think Katarina is better than we thought. Still not great by any means...
Oh, that's right. I forgot she's in those two found episodes. I haven't had the chance to watch them, or more accurately, I keep forgetting, because I want to watch the whole serial (as it is).

Huge pinch of salt required here but I would actually love it if this were true
Eh, it's Rich Johnston. He's often full of shit.

The sourcing is, well, what it is.

When you see the words Rich Johnston is there any point paying further attention? He likes to boast that he had the inside scoop on Matt Smith's casting but that was only after months of claiming it was Patterson Joseph.

But to his specific claims; the sets except for the TARDIS were all scrapped ages ago and Billie has been busy all year so far.

Anyway, we now now that in two weeks or so we'll know what's what, though probably not who's who.

Well RTD was on The One Show tonight. Didn't mention Who once (though to be fair he was there talking about two other things)

I am well aware of who Rich Johnston is. I tried to stay off his radar, because it made my life easier, but he and I have a history.

Frankly, I'm not sure Rich was entirely wrong. Moffat's statements at the time that it was only ever Smith after his audition early in the process have since been contradicted by Moffat himself and Neil Gaiman. Moffat has stated that a black actor was offered the role before Smith. Speculation is that the actor was Chiwetel Ejiofor and that he turned down the role because he would only do a single season, but we don't actually know. It very well could have been Joseph.

I'm not wondering anything, because that's exactly what they want me to do!

It feels like it's going to be more of a 'Christmas Special is delayed until 2036' kind of update than a new Doctor reveal though.

Leela was human! At least, I think she was.

That would get awkward in episodes set in the present day or Earth history. They'd have to cover their pointy ears with something.
Honestly, I think at this point they need to just let people know that aliens exist. After all of the invasions and things that have happened since the original series began, it's getting kind of ridiculous that people somehow keep forgetting about all of them.
Makeup and prosthetics are expensive - you can't expect the BBC to pay for that!
But would one alien character really be that expensive? Star Trek has managed to include regular alien characters going all the way back to 1966.

They just had an episode about conspiracy nuts trying to prove that the government is lying and aliens DON'T exist, so I think the current status quo would support an alien companion in the present day. They couldn't go back to Victorian London though, not without wearing something like a veil.

The assumption that whatever this announcement is is going to be related to who is playing the new Doctor is stupid because not treating Billie as 16 makes Regeneration - which has always been a fairly straightforward concept even factoring in things like the 'Timeless Child', the Metacrisis, and Bigeneration - unnecessarily complicated.

Whether she is or isn't the Doctor is irrelevant as she won't be sticking around, which means another Doctor will likely be introduced in the story.
