I don't know anything about The Authority, so I'm not too disappointed about that.
Yeah, you're probably right, but it was just the first place my mind went when I read that.
That's odd, given how many characters from other companies have been incorporated into the DC universe over the decades -- Captain Marvel (Shazam) from Fawcett, Blue Beetle, the Question, Captain Atom, etc. from Charlton, Static, Icon, etc. from Milestone, etc.
But then, it's always the case that some fans complain heavily about any new iteration of something whose previous iterations they take for granted, as we see every time a new Star Trek series comes along.
I'd say it's relatively easy to incorporate most Wildstorm characters, and even teams like WildCATS or Gen13 into the DCU. Even the predecessor of The Authority, Stormwatch, could easily be revamped as a governmental rival (whether as a UN organisation, or NATO, or even just the US) to the non-governmental Justice League. But the Authority was founded as a non-governmental super-team on a global scale to fill the void when Stormwatch was disbanded.
To have it make sense in a universe where the Justice League also exists, it would have to have different reason to exist. It could borrow that from the original Outsiders team, I suppose, where they are willing to break international law and go after dictators. But even that seems like a stretch in James Gunn's DCU, where Superman and the Justice Gang themselves did that to a degree.
I did think, after Gunn said Hawkgirl killing Ghurkos would have consequences, that this would lead to the Justice Gang adopting an official no-kill rule, and The Authority could be founded as a counterpoint to that. But, apparently, that's not how this is going to go.

That was definitely not what I was thinking. I was looking at the brown costume and partially brown/gold ring and thinking that it looked like the primary color had changed from green to brown. I had totally forgotten that John Stewart was the co-lead character in the show or I would have phrased things differently.
Ironically I think I was originally going to call them "Shit Lanterns", but changed it to be less crude. Obviously that had some unforeseen implications. Also, as someone who at this point is beyond tired of Hal Jordan in the comics, forgetting about John Stewart was unfortunate (DCAU John Stewart is still, in my opinion, the best non comic version of a Green Lantern).

Then again, this show is almost certainly going to have about as much Green Lantern action as Andor had Jedi action, so a suit thats probably getting very little screen time in the whole season, and a lantern that probably gets less, doesn't effect things very much.
At least Guy Gardner is around to show a real Green Lantern in the Gunn DC Universe. It took decades, but Guy Gardner is finally the greatest Green Lantern in some universe.
Did we ever learn what Guy's status was regarding OA and the Corps? He doesn't even have a Corps uniform himself. From the trailer, we do know that Hal is a member of the Corps and considers himself to be an officer of the law, whatever law that is in this universe. The uniform we saw looked like some kind of flight jacket with the Lantern Corps insignia, but I'm not convinced that is the actual working uniform we know. If we don't see the final suit by the end of the series, it could just be because we'll be seeing it in a future project.
But you don't expect Jedi action in a show called Andor.

Is there really one consistent uniform though? I admit the only GL comics I've read is Secret Origin, but in the animated movies and series the different GLs wear their own different unique designs.
