That's closer to the 70s Parker personality. As casualties build up in his career he begins to feel responsible and blame himself for any errors he may or may not have committed along the way.

IOW, the greatest period of interest and consistent development for the Parker character. His vast appeal continued to grow because he had to suffer with/carry the worst of human experiences, making him a classic example of the tragic hero. The trailer seems to lean in that direction (one would hope with his grief over Aunt May and the fact MJ does not know him anymore), but its too early to tell if the film will maintain that kind of emotional weight throughout (meaning will he eventually see a rainbow at the end of it all, instead of being a similar character to his early to mid 1970s version?)..

Moreover, I'd like the Punisher to continue his behavior from the TV side, being as brutal and focused on whatever job he takes on--especially if that initially includes Spider-Man as one of his targets. The "kid" reference he makes indicates he might have some working relationship with Spider-Man (something seen in many a Spider-Man comic), and if that happens, hopefully, its during the last quarter of the movie, after a well-justified conflict.

The Scorpion...not too thrilled about the mecha-esque direction of the suit. It looks a bit odd.

The light piano melody at the beginning of the trailer was--of course-- a version of the late Bob Harris' theme to the 1967-70 Spider-Man animated series.

I like the design for Gargan's Scorpion suit, it fits better with the style they've gone for in the other movies, and it's pretty much the standard these days with other adaptations and even the more recent comics going in that direction too.
Honestly, David's voiceover about spider life cycles sounds to me like the narration for a nature documentary, maybe something Peter's watching on TV or online as research, or a film being shown in a classroom. It might be nothing more than a voice cameo. David might even be playing himself as the celebrity narrator of the documentary.

Gods, I really hope that's not the direction they're going in.
Yeah, that would be very disappointing if that's all it is.

I'm just saying, best not to jump to conclusions. Just because an actor's in a movie trailer doesn't mean they're in a major role.
Oh I know, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just cameo, I'm just hoping it's something more interesting that just a TV show voiceover.

I'm kinda disappointed with it. It reminds me of the robotic Rhino suit in TASM2. I was hoping they'd go for something a little bit closer to the comic suit.

I don’t think it’s like the Rhino.
More in line with Vulture.
It’s probably also based on Toom’s old alien tech black market.
Just a guess, though.
What would the alternative even be?
A science experiment gone wrong alá Connors and he grows an actual scorpion tail?

If it's like "Your friendly Neighborhood Spider-man" then its black market tech....possibly by this universes Oto Octavius or Tombstone who's in the movie.

Easter egg?

The brand of Keg is called "The green Jackal"

I'm thinking like the animated series. He is injected with scorpion DNA then exposed to radiation from the Neogenic Recombinator and given a Scorpion suit. Scorpion was chosen because it was the natural predator of the spider.

"That’s a level of overwhelm that doesn’t make sense."

Tell me about it!

Doomsday and Dune 3 are set for release on the same day. Apparently theater owners would like them to spread it out, but I would like to see them lean into it ala Barbenheimer. "Dunesday"?

BRING IT ON.
