Thank you so much for your detailed and well-sourced explanation. Hopefully we'll learn about Vanezis' discovery sooner than later.Just to clarify, cause it seems some confusion in the thread.
1)
These ARE from the collection that FiF has been talking about over the last few months.
They knew there was 1, but after securing the collection, they found 6 episodes in total, two of which (DMP 1 and 3) were missing.
The others were 2 episodes of The Daleks, 1 episode of The Chase and 1 episode of The Web Planet.
2)
@Qonundrum @The Nth Doctor
The material wassecured a very short time ago, a matter of weeks, possibly less than a fortnight, and have not been restored or digitized in any way yet (listen to that hiss on the soundtrack of the clips…).
The reason the picture looks quite good is these episodes were bought, but the collector never viewed them. He got them on the side of a larger bundle of films about canals and waterways and was not a Doctor Who fan.
The episodes are not in ‘ramshackle condition’. The collection itself was described as being organised in a ramshackle way.
3)
Paul Vanezis, long standing ME expert knows of another collection which contains 2 missing episodes (most likely Hartnell), but for reasons unknown, it’s a no-go right now. The collector said ‘they have other fish to fry’, whatever that means.
FiF have alluded to other collectors they are negotiating with. So there’s potentially and likely more to come.
Paul Vanezis in the last 24 hours was asked directly, what are the chances of more coming back within the next two years, on a 1-10 scale. 1 being low, 10 being high.
His answer?… 10. A confidently expressed 10 at that.
4)
Finally Phil Morris said something about The Tenth Planet 4, but nobody cares about that dickhead anymore so maybe don’t put any stock in that.
Exciting times.
I'm all for dragging Ian Levine.
I'll admit, the people in the comments dragging Ian Levine made me laugh.![]()

The biggest surprise from these found episodes, like with the found episodes of Troughton a decade ago, was just how awesome Hartnell really was as the Doctor. And Courtney's acting in his scene with Katarina is something no recon could ever approach without hard work animation at all.

What is the speculation for the other episodes that have been found but not talked about? More Hartnell?
Some more YouTube videos about it. This was the best part of my otherwise crappy Friday.
The guys over at Radio Free Skaro plan on doing some interviews related to this with the folks over at Films are Fabulous. I recommend checking them out too.2 excellent and reliable channels. Thank you.

You did to the extent by saying who is making the claims instead of just "rumor has it..."I hope I don’t come across as pedantic… I’m not sure if ‘well sourced’ was slightly, justifiably, sarcastic given that I didn’t provide any sources…
Thank you for sharing this. I'll try to watch some of it when I have the chance. If anyone is interested though, everything posted comes from the horses mouths as it were:
The Missing Episodes Podcast have been working closely with FiF, so anything I said comes from them directly. Their channel can be found on YouTube and it’ll help anyone who’s interested to cut any of the flimflam or games of telephone out of the discussion.
This is the lengthy interview with FiF themselves. Apologies for the belated source.
Which you should always do.Not having a swipe at anyone… it’s easy to get misinformed, but I started to see untruths form (it’s a different collection, the episodes were in ramshackle condition…) and felt I had to correct.
While I'm much more of a Troughton fan and I continuously lament how so many of his episodes are still missing (2013 was glorious!), I do share your enthusiasm and joy about the recovery of these missing Hartnell episodes. It’s delightful news though, isn’t it? Hartnell is my preferred Doc for returns and though I’ve episodes I’d prefer to see than DMP 1 and 3, I definitely won’t turn my nose up. ;-)
Same. I like the second Doctor far more than the first. However, I'm always happy to see new episodes. While I'm much more of a Troughton fan and I continuously lament how so many of his episodes are still missing (2013 was glorious!), I do share your enthusiasm and joy about the recovery of these missing Hartnell episodes.

The quality of Doctor Who animation varies a lot.The Levine isn't as awful as I expected, I guess, but the character animation was very dead-eyed and robotic, the Doctor's body language didn't feel Hartnell-like at all, and the camera moves and cuts weren't well-done.
Just to be clear, he wasn't speaking of any of the official animated releases, the Levine one in question is fan-made Ai material. The quality of Doctor Who animation varies a lot.
There is fan made material that isn't AI too. Wheel in Space comes to mind.Just to be clear, he wasn't speaking of any of the official animated releases, the Levine one in question is fan-made Ai material.
If only Web of Fear Episode 3 was even half as good as this. There is fan made material that isn't AI too. Wheel in Space comes to mind.
