I love Sam!!!

I’ve said it before—I was sure I was going to hate SAM, but episode 5 completely won me over.
All hail Queen Sam Samallina of Samonita!

When Robert Hewitt Wolfe released his "Coda" for Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda there were all these plans for how the main characters were going to become legends in the future of that world, but because of the path that show took, it wasn't always clear how they might have gotten from where they started to where they were meant to be (at least with some of the characters).

I've been thinking about that with the way that Starfleet Academy is already signaling the roles these characters are going to play in the future of their world. I think SAM maybe entered the Academy thinking she would follow in The Doctor's footsteps (as did some of the audience, probably) and it was interesting then that he very quickly shut that down. Instead she's being linked to Sisko's journey, indicating that her path will be less focused on proving herself a person and more on simply being one within the great destiny that has been foisted upon her by an incorporeal entity.

I came here just to say this. I adore Sam.

In the first episode I was hesitant. Her eagerness was off putting. I was wrong.

And when Genysis saw her trying to say hi to everyone and didn't use that moment to be some kind of mean girl, Sam defacto helped me realize that Genysis wasn't going to suck either.

Sam is the kind of character that makes everyone else better by association whether they want it or not.

Wasn't too crazy about her at the beginning..But after her rebirth phase the character has GREATLY improved..

I found the over-the-top dorkiness level sort of annoying for the first few episodes, but ended up liking her as time went on. And I guess I would chalk the first few episodes up to the writers still getting used to the characters (and maybe also going a little overboard with caricature-like portrayals of a few defining characteristics, much like TNG did with many of its characters in Season 1).

I love her in general, but she was a disappointment in the finale. She picked the wrong day to become a self-absorbed drip.
