Future of Paramount+ among merger talks

Ah so shows are safe until trump allies complain about them. Appease or fly under the radar. Or have a contract in place from before the takeover.
Trump will be gone in 2029, and let me remind you that Rupert Murdoch's shows on the Fox Network feature Black and lesbian characters. Also, Paramount's blacklist probably only includes supporters of Palestine.

Hope for a brighter future but keep a healthy dose of pessism just in case an acolyte of his gets in. We have to do the same over here with making sure farage stays away from power

That's right, The Ellisons strategic moves must be viewed through a pro Israel Lense. That and what helps Oracle grow. Trump and his culture war is a means to an end.

My main concern about this deal isn't politics, it's debt.

Servicing that amount of debt means there's less money to produce content, and makes it harder to take risks.

They'll have 79B in outstanding bonds. At about 5.5% you'd have 4.3B in interest payments per year. That doesn't include principle payments.

Currently both companies combined are only producing 6.2B in profit discounting interest expense. They're going to have to cut costs significantly to give themselves a cushion.

Neither company's business is growing. Revenue has been flat for years.

"Our combined company will be home to many of the greatest, most recognizable and beloved franchises in the world, from Harry Potter to Top Gun, Star Trek to Looney Tunes, Game of Thrones to Yellowstone". David Ellison

Trek got a specific shout out.
Yeah, right next to Looney Tunes :)

I liked the experience of seeing movies in a theatre. I miss it. But first there would have to be movies that don't have special effects as their major draw. I just don't care about exploosions.

Yeah, the debt is insane. I guess they'll make massive cuts and double-down on AI slop movies.

Flaming
So they're super pro-Israel but also bankrolled by Gulf states?
Money likes money. The Gulf States don’t care about the Palestinians. This comment is ok, but if I were to criticize Israel I would be banned immediately.

By the way, logging on to this site sucks. Endless ads and associated nonsense. No more posting for me. Cancel my subscription to the Resurrection.

You people are worthless humorless nerds!

Chrome Dome Apologists!

Mary Sues!

Second Warning for Flaming, if it matters. Bye.

Someone thinks he's Teaching Really Obvious Life Lessons.

Is anything actually filmed at the Paramount lot these days? When I did the tour in 2019 it was a ghost town, and the only active set was Dr Phil.
