News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Well, on the one hand you'd expect virtuous Star Trek characters, aka the Great and the Good, to care about the history of spaceflight. But on the other, you'd also expect them to detest the whole idea of free speech, like all Virtuous people. What to do, what to do?
A part of free speech is the freedom to call out people for uneducated vitriol, it's what separates us from fascist dictatorships.

Shining a spotlight on the abysmal state of Star Trek by people like Musk and Miller and thus putting a little bit of pressure on Paramount and David Ellison is a good thing.
The comment about giving Shatner control of Star Trek is, of course, hyperbolic. It's about advocating for change.

Stephen Miller is a fan of classic Star Trek. I think he cares.

I think something went completely over your head. And if the point wasn’t clearly made, it never will be.

I have a shirt like that too.

I must care as well!

It’s laughable that anyone would want to cede control of the franchise over to a 94-year-old man who’s moved on with his life.

And remember what happened the last time we had Shatner in the Director’s chair? We got The Final Frontier. Hardly the benchmark for continued success.

But I’m not surprised a certain poster eagerly shared that whole pointless conversation. Par for the course.
You realize William Shatner wasn't being at all serious with that Xitter post, right?

But Miller was, that was my point. Anyone with half a brain knows Shatner has no direct involvement with his twitter account anyways.
As one of my coworkers found out several years ago. He thought he was having a DM conversation with Shatner and had arranged an interview with him for Diamond's website at a convention, but the actual conversation with his assistant (named Christopher, IIRC), and Shatner knew nothing about it. Colleague did not get an interview.

Just because you're going under a false assumption doesn't mean that you are free to spoil stuff for other people.

How is it a false assumption?
It was my true assumption.
My assumption was wrong, that's why I deleted the post. But I wouldn't call it a false assumption, that's terrible grammar.
I'm sorry, I know my crime caused the American invasion of Greenland and the dissolution of NATO.

Saying 'everyone seems to hate nuTrek' is not a statement of opinion. It is a statement of opinion that is incorrectly worded as if it were a fact. Hope that helps.
