Fan reactions to Starfleet Academy's female Jem'Hadar/Klingon hybrid character

Indeed you would be correct it does never state that.

It does however state they do not eat, drink, sleep or reproduce sexually. There is no evidence they feel any kind of sexual impulses from any of their interactions throughout the show.

Could it just be suppressed by the white? The free Jem'Hadar or those struggling with withdrawls do not, even one going through accelerated puberty has no interest. So it is at least suppressed on a genetic level.

But then why leave it and just suppress it in the first place? If one is genetically engineering the perfect soldier race it seems best to just eliminate that all together. Should it activate you could potentially end up with one of your perfect soldiers creating a child and then no longer performing his duties the same way. Offspring are a distraction, offspring present a weakness, what if your Jem'Hadar rebels against you to protect it?

It just makes more sense to make them infertile to begin with. Hell it makes more sense to not make them anatomically correct. Genetalia is a vulnerable spot physically and without the need for food and drink also serves no purpose.

But that depends on if one only goes by what is stated on screen verbatim or in this case what is unsaid and allows for absolutely nothing to be interpretated.
Fans often fail to consider that what characters are saying is based on the characters limited knowledge not perfect godlike knowledge of all things.

The character is clearly played by a Black actress. Everything else is an excuse.
Absolutely not.

I think I kicked off a lot of this by commenting how poor she was as an actress in the part.

I'm not going to pathetically attempt to prove my credentials and list what I support, but anyone who has interacted with me over the last decade or so knows I'm just not like that.

She's jarring - her performance sticks out like a sore thumb. That's it, nothing more.

 How so? This thread and the negative online discourse that’s discussed therein (which is oftentimes driven by thinly-veiled racism, sexism, fatphobia and anti-queer sentiment) has literally been going on for months. This thread started way back in August, four months before you even said anything about Gina Yashere / Lura Thok.

Not sure if that’s a stupid question or not, but was it ever definitively established if the Jem’Hadar’s cloaking ability was of a biological or a technical nature? Would Lura Thok be able to cloak as well?
In DS9 it is biological, as evidenced by the young Jem'Hadar that Odo raises being able to do it.

Can Thok do it despite being mixed species? This show seems to like the idea of multiple characters having "super powers" so... ;)

I must say while I'm not super into the show just yet, she's a bright spot of genuine fun, and a good reason to keep giving it a chance.
Not just a black actress, but a black lesbian actress with a curvy figure who is also outspoken. Peoples bigotry was showing on multiple levels.

I'd point out here that any Jem'Hadar that broke away enough from the Founders conditioning to want to sleep with a woman would already have broken away from the conditioning to a point where where anything else is moot.

Also see below.

The Jem'Hadar are reptilian...

The Founders engineered the Jem'Hadar to be utterly loyal soldiers. All day, every day. No food, no sleep, no women. It seems clear to me that they would absolutely remove any kind of sex drive.

Says who?

I wouldn't go that far.

I enjoyed her performance, but Ars Technica did write an article that discusses her character without bringing any of that stuff up.

From the article above:
Obviously, a female Jem’Hadar must be canon, because it’s right there on screen, and that’s how Trek canon works. But the Founders bred the Jem’Hadar in tanks, and they lived short, dangerous lives as warriors. What use would sex organs or sexual reproduction be to a species genetically engineered to do a specific job by a race of contemptuous changelings that treat their minions as little more than tools.

That’s the trouble with head canon—the writers go and put something on the TV show that contradicts your clever idea, and you either deal with it or get annoyed. I’ll get over it, because I rather enjoy the hyperaggressive Thok and the way she harangues the cadets.

I know they lacked the ability to shroud, if they were short on ketracel white. Don't know if this was because of loss of the mental control necessary to operate something technical or the loss of a biological ability.

Ah, I meant a page or so back on this thread.

I've not read back on this thread, am not on any social media and to be honest had read very little about the show in advance. I was not familiar with the actress and found out she was LGBTQ+ half a dozen posts ago.

If this has been a contentious subject on line for a while I was unaware. I'm not claiming (nor would I wish to) to have started some larger 'debate'.

Biological.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I did not know that until now because the makeup completely obscures the actress's real appearance to me in a different way from Jay-Den or Worf.
