Oh… I gave it a 6. Not terrible, but there are some things there that don’t work for me. Not sure I’m up for a show of rotating Wesley Crushers.

If they would have set this show at an earlier century it would have been better. Maybe late 25th.
The truly sad part of this is that they could have set this a year or two post Picard and told pretty much the exact same story with only a few minor tweaks.

The ending did bother me on a couple counts. Not offering any kind of surrender to the other ship and Mir staying after betraying his ship and nearly getting everyone killed.

Not sure I’m in for the long haul.
Yeah just nuking that pirate ship bothered me too. They didn't even offer assistance to survivors afterwards. Like "oh no, I'm so ashamed of separating this one kid from his criminal mother that one time. But fuck those guys. I don't even know them, or if they had families."

I wasn't bothered by Caleb staying at all. He got main character privileges & knows the Saxon director by name. At least they didn't immediately make him Captain or something.

She also said she wanted to beam the ones on her ship out into space.

I think for storytelling to be effective, there has to be a cost to actions. The Star Trek franchise has been really bad about this for a really long time.

Until Star Trek figures out how to tell those stories, it will continue to be a niche franchise being held together by its aging audiences reliving the glory days.

Oh my gosh. Yup. I was thinking the same thing. All Wesley geniuses. Theyre even more annoying. I wonder if Wesley will ask them to join the travelers. Lol

They made a huge mistake setting this so far out.
They really didn’t. I was skeptical of the time frame when they announced the show, but having now seen it I think it works exceptionally well. The Burn backstory is the perfect way to frame a new generation of cadets being tasked with rebuilding a world they have never even known. That just wouldn’t work as well a couple of years after Picard, when the entire galaxy had been living in relative peace for decades. Plus, the future setting helps making the world of SFA feel fresh and interesting again.

All Wesley geniuses.
How was Jay-Den a “Wesley Crusher genius” when his patient had to talk him through how to treat her wound?

How was Genesis a “Wesley Crusher genius” when she needed the help of the doctor to save Darem?

How was Darem a “Wesley Crusher genius” when all he did was benefit from his physiological differences?

That’s this week when Mir was the primary Wesley Crusher.

Hm, I don’t know. He’s good at engineering/computer crap, but he sucks at listening to his commander, doesn’t want to teamwork, puts the ship in danger because he’s got his own agenda. That’s what Wesley Crusher was in your eyes? Caleb saves the ship (and mind you, he only does so with the help of the others, not alone), because he is our hero and main protagonist. He’s not the resident child genius on the ship.

By the way, did you notice that when he beamed aboard with his men Braka doesn’t whistle the Star Trek melody anymore as he did in the trailer?
When that happened, I was so curious if he'll whistle the Trek tune :D
(E2 shows it actually exists in universe)
I loved the arrival into San Francisco scene.

But now I can’t get that song out of my head
Same, I've been feeling like Troi in The Survivors for days :D
Also they canonized Prodigy, so even though you can't actually watch the show anywhere and most people won't, the characters and the EMH's time with them is definitely part of the lore without caveats anymore.
Was it ever decanonized? :shifty:

I feel like it kind of had that “not real Trek” energy about it. Even sometimes the official website writers would forget about them.
