Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I'm curious because the way he's talking there, it almost like the Doctor doesn't even exist in the show's world, but I thought the whole idea of the show was that it took place in the Doctor Who universe.
At the end it mentions different species existing in the Sea Devils world, so I'm wondering if that will the explanation for the different ways they look.
A bunch of Doctor Who commentary youtube channels are talking about rumored talks between BBC and HBO Max as a new international platform for the Doctor Who back catalog and future content (minus the Disney+ seasons for now).

What are ya'll thoughts on that?
Isn't HBO Max as part of the Warner bros group about to be merged into another company? Would it be wise to sell rights to a company that has a very uncertain future?
Yeah, now seems like a really weird time to be selling it to a company like WB. It also seems a little weird that this would come as a possibility so soon after they pulled all of the pre-Disney seasons off of HBO Max, you'd think if this was a possiblity they would have left them on there.

If they can’t have the Disney stuff, well, that might force an interesting loop where the Xmas special forces a reset to 14, because then viewers could just hop from power of the Doctor, maybe keep wild blue yonder, then everything from the giggle to whatever comes after the special is just essentially looped out for non uk viewers. (Which would be bleh)

RTD doesn’t understand that even members of the same species can look radically different?

It’s probs just the silurians anyway. Warriors of the Deep two, electric boogaloo.
(CGI Myrka inbound.)

The end for Kate? Jenna Redgrave claims in this interview there's nothing left for her character to explore once we conclude The War Between

Not to get melodramatic but it wouldn’t be a “war” if there wasn’t any casualties

There’s never really been that much exploration done with the character anyway. All her meaty contributions were under Moff, and her main role is to be Lethbridge-Stuart.

Reviews have started to drop of the first 2 episodes of the War Between the Land and the Sea and they seem mostly positive. The worst I've seen is it being given 3/5 with a few suggesting it's the best the Whoniverse and RTD has been in a while. Given I've enjoyed a lot of the last two seasons of Who that alone is really promising.

Sounds a bit talky and light on action (but this isn't necessarily identified as a weakness) and a bit preachy, but I'd expect that. Anyone who doesn't see this is going to feature climate change as a major plot point has been living under a rock of late!

Doctor Who on a joined Netflix/HBO Max streaming platform might be the best of all possible outcomes to keep the show viable?
What that does for the production side? No idea.
