Creative Writing, Poetry, Arts & Crafts, and Other Creations Thread

After a long creative drought, finally slipped back into a really nice writing groove, ideas & words flowing well.

Written roughly 11,000 words of my imaginatively-titled superhero story, Hero, in the last 10 days. And counting.

Almost a personal NaNoWriMo. There's an irony in there somewhere, I think.

Really hope it lasts.
I don't know if it's of any use, but depending on what your ambitions are, I can put you in touch with a publisher who might be interested in your work?

I use a self-publishing platform because I'm pretty convinced no publisher would touch what I write. Nowhere near mainstream enough. Also, I like the freedom, and lack of pressure. No limitations or deadlines except the ones I set myself.

Appreciate the offer, though. :)

That's fair! Definitely pros and cons to any form of publishing. Do you already stuff out there to read? A website I can look at?

Still advent as of today, so tis the season:
I did this a couple of years ago but it's an ambient version of the Betty Pulkingham music for Magnificat (S247 in the Episcopal Church 1982 hymnal).
Roland piano, Novation Circuit Tracks and sampled 60hz electrical noise.

So, in my budding experience as a published author, something to watch out for. As with any other business or industry, you can expect scammers to be contacting you virtually all the time. I have had so many emails promising me loads of sales, I've had people offer to review my books if I pay them (one wanted $20, they could buy my book on Kindle for far less!), and the best one of all is how 'famous authors' have contacted me to explore the writing journey, only to try and sell me a service!

I seriously doubt that Suzzane Collins, who is worth some $90 million, will be personally contacting me to sell me a marketing scheme, and I have to wonder why the people pretending to be famous authors think such ploys will work.

I guess the message to any authors, writers, artists, or anyone who's putting out products and services out there is: be mindful. Scammers know no bounds. They'll try anything to cheat you out of cash.
