How come noone talks about a Voyager reboot?

Kes was problematic, given Jennifer Lien's issues. But since PRO had access to the Delta Quadrant, they could have given us an update on Neelix. And not including prime Harry when Garrett Wang was so available and so eager to be involved was just stupid.
I only say this based on him seemingly having owned the meme - his intro line on The Delta Flyers pod is "The Forever Ensign" - it may be that he was happy continuing the joke?

I did really like the older (kind of Pic era) version of him we saw in Timeless and then as Capt Kim in Endgame and would be very open to seeing grown up Harry but if it is just a 30 second cameo (like Shelby) I'm not too fussed but if he got a full episode like Ro then I'd be down

I will only accept a reunion if Harry is an embittered ex-Starfleet officer living in a trailer in the shadow of Vasquez Rocks. ;)

Come to think of it, it's hard to do a Voyager reunion because the characters are very much tied to the journey home. The entire mythic quality the show has arises from Janeway cast into the role of Odysseus, and "home" as an ideal - a source of undying hope - rather than just meaning "Earth". Like TOS, the show is more metaphorical than literal.

Decoupled from that, you basically just have a bunch of likeable people hanging out in utopian Earth, which could be enjoyable viewing but probably wouldn't really add anything meaningful to Voyager, and seeing what actually becomes of them when they reach home could easily undercut a big chunk of the original show's dramatic engine.

The TNG crew formed a bond as a crew on a Federation starship under generally speaking, normal circumstances.

Voyager is a wholly different thing. To add to whatstarlight said above, I'd have to ask: why would the crew all come together at all?

Janeway has moved onto Admiral. Even Kirk moved away from ship and crew when he became Admiral, only coming back because of movie reasons.

Chacotay has his own command.

Tuvok has his own command, and previously we know Vulcans just move on.

Tom is serving elsewhere, and has a life with Torres.

Harry is still not promoted.

And 7 of 9, well ST: P spoilers, but she's got her hands full.

Doctor has a career elsewhere, too.

Getting back together would mean Starfleet re-assigning all these people to one place, and for what possible reason? They were thrust together, Marquis and Starfleet, and one alternate reality character (as ST: V went on).

The obvious plot choices would then be:

a) crew gets lost again
b) go off in search of another lost ship (with a crewmember, or one of their kids on it)
c) face off against an old foe from the DQ

There's a lot of characters whose fate is not well determined.

Tom Paris was doing a goodwill tour as a Voyager survivor. He also got upped by one rank, appropriate given that he was recently promoted to LTJG.

B'Elanna has not been seen. But, she's been mentioned, as having designed the new Dauntless. Maybe the Proto-drive is her work as well.

Harry is still in Schrödinger mode: fate unknown. I saw that the new version of that wall in the SFA trailer didn't feature him. Presumably, some of the "eternal ensign" crowd threw a hissyfit at the thought of him retiring as an admiral.

Neelix and Kes have not been mentioned.

Diminishing returns prevailing, what vision and mission statements exist for such a revival/sequel/continuation of VOY's era? (Wouldn't a reboot just keep the names and other superficial attributes but change core details into something different?)

Actually, a reboot as done by... well... not sure... I dunno... maybe Ronald D Moore. He could elevate VOY the same way he managed to be one of the few people who could do a reboot successfully with BSG... problem is, he vamoosed VOY early on and VOY should have been people of opposite viewpoints forced to work together, instead of becoming "incense and peppermints" and "shiny happy people" by episode freakin' four or whatever.... or what felt way faster than it should have. Dang drama...

Plus, it's easier to count the number of botched reboots over the successful ones. BSG is one that worked... I'm sure there's another, somewhere...

As for Kes, they could at least have done something to wipe out the destruction of the character in that horrible season 6 episode.

IMHO it started out with potential, but lost its way shortly after.
But considering how so many good characters from TNG, DS9 and VOY had been destroyed in both books and episodes in recent years, it might be better if nothing's being done.

Obviously the 24th century no longet exist for Star Trek authors. All they do now is to kill of and destry our old favorites.

It's more dramaaaaaaaatic to destroooooooooooy them. Look at Kirk in GEN, to the point audiences were so upset that they made his death even dumber in a rewrite, complete with easy-pickins' pun about "captain on the bridge becomes bridge on the captain" (ugh).Dramatic deaths stop being epic when overdone, unless it's the series finale to an underrated little BBC sci-fi show that aired in 1981. Spoiler: Blake's 7, but I bet most of you already knew that.

The obvious plot choices would then be:

a) crew gets lost again

Just get Jonathan Harris as Dr Smith and then we might have a winner of a series.

b) go off in search of another lost ship (with a crewmember, or one of their kids on it)

Seems a little too easy a springboard, but it wouldn't not work.

c) face off against an old foe from the DQ

The DQ? Yikes, a rogue chocolate chip ice cream treat terrorizing the galaxy... would work better as a parody, or played straight for a target audience of kindergarteners... (Okay, I know you mean Delta Quadrant and not Dairy Queen, but still... Note to self: Pick up a treat before the first snowstorm of the year hits. 😋)

"UPN confirmed a revival..."

UPN doesn't exist anymore.

"...of the popular sitcom"

Voyager was not a sitcom. Even if we laughed at warp ten salamander babies.

A.I. generated garbage.

Or it's the ultimate in trolling. UPN went "toodles" a long time ago. Plus, if VOY is seen as a joke, somewhere and somehow "sitcom" was either used by the content generator, if not the wit of the person scripting that article.

AI does some weird things.

And I don't see why Voyager would be regarded as a joke. It was a Trek series, neither the best nor the worst of the lot.

In another thread I suggested Harry never got promoted, he maybe had some issue with Starfleet, left, joined some kind of rag-tag team.

So, here's an idea for a Voyager (mini) series that does not include the whole cast:

Harry and his rag-tag team are trying to help/aide some group that is working against some enemy, but Starfleet is not taking a side and has forbidden Starfleet personnel from interfering. This caused Harry to leave.

Cut to: years later and maybe something very serious is happening and Harry is in the midst of it, cause serious issues maybe with Federation allies and Starfleet has dispatched a Federation vessel to stop Harry and his team. Serving aboard the Starship are Tom, his wife Torres, and their child. During a battle, the key crew are killed save the Engineer who was in Engineering (maybe the Bridge is blown away, who knows), cause Tom and Torres to take command and finish the mission, pitting Tm and Harry against each other.

Maybe a guest appearance from another Voyager character when a second Federation ship is dispatched after the distress call.
