Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

For most drivers, simplicity and reliability are what matters most. Who cares if your car can go 0-150 in 10 seconds flat if even your fastest roads have a 65-mph speed limit?

Because, you know, you have to ‘drive it like you stole it’… *oy*

Watching idiots like that out here in Hawaii is even more hysterical - when the freeway is only 24 miles long… they arrive what, 20-30 seconds before a ‘normal’ driver? Is that really worth putting yourself and other drivers at risk?

Cheers,

It was either late spring or early summer when a young couple drove up and wanted us to service their Land Rover.
That elicited an immediate "Nope" from the shop manager and the technicians.
A vehicle like that, you take to the dealership to have it serviced.
It's one of the few vehicles our technicians won't touch.

Remind me not to get one. Nothing sucks worse thsn being tethered to a dealership. Especially if it goes out of business.

Our Harley Davidson dealership did that, but their repair shop is still operating.

I put up my Christmas tree. :techman:

Me too, but I also like some other holidays, so I give them their turn.

I have several...

Christmas - I go all out with lights and decor and ugly sweaters. And assorted sweets, naturally.

Halloween - Put up lights and some decor. And I dress up for the kids.

New Year's - My Christmas lights are still up snd no way am I going dark this near the solstice. So I drink champagne and start "SPIRIT FOLK" at 11:49:35.

Thanksgiving Weekend/Martin Luther King weekend - Put up and take down Christmas decorations. It's an extensive operation.

Valentines Day - Aside from the candy, this holiday sucks. But I still put up red/white/pink lights because February here is dreary.

Easter - Dye eggs, sometimes. And participate in my church Easter egg hunt.

4th of July - Go to the local reservation and set off fireworks. So does everyone else. By dark, it's like a continuous grand finale... or an artillery barrage.

I've only been working here for three years, but I've come to the conclusion that Toyota, Honda and Subaru are probably my top three for reliability and easy maintenance.
European cars, on the other hand, are way over-engineered.
BMW and Mercedes being the top culprit.

I have been very happy with the Toyotas that I've owned. They have been incredibly durable and reliable. I had a Camry years ago--it was my Mom's for about 10/12 years, and then she gave it to me. I drove it for another 10 +years.
I now drive my husband's old Prius, which he beat the crap out of. He put dents, scrapes, scratches, etc. on it. I drive it now--it's really beat up but it runs just fine.

Try driving in Florida (the state that gave the world "Florida Man" :scream: ):

Florida man accused of going 124 mph, tells state troopers he ‘had to use the bathroom’.
