2026 Novel Releases

Since it looks increasingly unlikely that we'll see the Picard characters in live-action again anytime soon, I'm delighted to hear what this book is about. (I'm still irked that Wil Wheaton had no on-screen reunion with the rest of the cast.) Really looking forward to reading this. And I agree with Christopher that it's lovely to see painted covers making a return, and I also had no problem recognising either character.

Assuming Wesley in this novel is contemporaneous with Prodigy, than the Temporal Wars are already finished from his perspective.
Things can be up to interpretation. For example, most people thought the Borg conquest timeline was negated by the end of Star Trek: First Contact, but the Coda trilogy showed that it managed to persist.

OK, that was not what I expected for To Defy Fate, but it sounds great. While backstory novels are nice, I always prefer books that are set during or after the series.

With Wesley coming back I wonder if the Soji from the 2020s will be the mystery character or at least make an appearance. Also, for comedy’s sake, I hope Picard gets run over by another Tesla.

Will it only be released in hardcover or will there be a non-30 dollar option as well?

Ah, so it takes place in the missing year between the finale's main story and the final scene and is not the post-finale novel I had thought it was. Also definitely not the Captain Shaw centered novel it had been rumored to be.

A recent post by Dayton mentioned another pitch that was made, before returning to a different idea, and that is perhaps waiting for another time. That sounded like the Shaw story, I think?

As only one's been announced so far (which takes place in the 25th century) we don't know. If I were to guess, possibly not. Assuming we get three novels for 2026 (that seems to be average for recent years) the other two are likely to be TOS and SNW.

I'd expect one for Starfleet Academy and one for Strange New Worlds,

Who even knows? PIC - To Defy Fate is scheduled for April 2026. There is not much lead time left.
I try to avoid all PIC-related things due to some real disappointments when it comes to books based on that series. I don't want anything to do with the "canon" in that series and books. I'm sure that you know why.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is everything Trek-related now focused on either the flogging of the dead horse that TOS has become, I mean SNW and similar things plus the "canon" and scenarios created in the incredible bad DSC?

Is that the only things to find in the books too?
