It's funny cause it's true. LOL
I think I'm generally Level 2.
I think the great thing now is there’s so much Trek content (and a great deal of it contradicts itself), so we’re much freer to take a pick-n-mix approach to what we accept as canon.
Well, I know it’s still technically canon if it’s shown on screen…but we’re free to headcanon it as “that’s an alternate universe”…and nobody can reeeeally prove otherwise. I think TNG’s “Parallels” was a revelation in that respect.
Honestly, we've always had that freedom. I prefer to believe that episodes like "The Alternative Factor," "And The Children Shall Lead," and Star Trek V didn't happen in quite the way they were depicted on screen, and that Strange New Worlds is an alternate universe version of Trek that only sometimes lines up with TOS. And no one can really stop me from believing that. That's the beauty of headcanon.I think the great thing now is there’s so much Trek content (and a great deal of it contradicts itself), so we’re much freer to take a pick-n-mix approach to what we accept as canon.
Consider this: Cage is the pilot on which SNW is based. WNMHGB is the pilot on which TOS is based. Gene made two pilots, and they each sold a series.Strange New Worlds is an alternate universe version of Trek that only sometimes lines up with TOS. And no one can really stop me from believing that. The tiny Type-15 ShuttlePods feel like the VW Bug equivalent of Shuttle Craft. The shuttlepods in ENT had high sublight capacity, so I imagine that 24th century shuttlepods might be warp capable.
In TNG at least, shuttlepods were still sublight only. The Voltaire that Capt. Picard piloted in the Mar Oscura Nebula, ahead of the Enterprise had its Impulse Nacelle damaged when it was clipped by some dark matter in TNG "In Theory" S04E25. One would posit that the warp capable shuttlepod variant has a Impulse Powered warp drive. I am not seeing a lot of likelihood for a M/AM reactor being installed in it IMHO, but YMMV.The shuttlepods in ENT had high sublight capacity, so I imagine that 24th century shuttlepods might be warp capable.
Agreed, it is like the sub-compact car of shuttle craft. LOL. Apparently, per Memory Alpha, the Type-18 is when the change came about, although Memory Alpha also states that Lower Decks seems to allude to the Type-15 being able to be fitted with the warp drive capable nacelles. The tiny Type-15 ShuttlePods feel like the VW Bug equivalent of Shuttle Craft.
It's so damn tiny & cramp, yes it can go Warp, but it's sibling Shuttle Crafts are larger, better, faster, & more comfortable with it's much larger interior space.
Remember when they had Riker in one of those that crash landed, he must've been so uncomfortable in there having to duck into the damn thing.Agreed, it is like the sub-compact car of shuttle craft. Everybody shrinks as you get into your older ages, it's not by much, but it does happen.He... shrunk?![]()
Like Frakes, I have "shrunk in the wash" from 6'3" peak, now down to 6'2 1/2"..Everybody shrinks as you get into your older ages, it's not by much, but it does happen.
