One starfleeter could board a ship, knock everyone out, and load a small shuttle with the whole crew reduced to tiny little shapes…perhaps vindictively reversing the process with the whole crew splitting the shuttle-pod apart on achieving full size—something I could see the Intendant doing when bored.

It's the covenant inside.
Besides, you gotta assume that the killingness of the tablets is only a problem if you have broken a commandment.

Why does this thread remind me of the show "Warehouse 13".
Because of the big warehouse at the end of the Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark?
