A giant sign at the bottom of the season 1 thread told me not to bump it and start a new thread instead, so here we are.

Great first episode. I like how the characters are kind of worse off for saving the world, or rather how they were screwed over by Waller for outing her. Adebayo is obviously in denial, while Harcourt is on a trip of self-destruction. And Chris, well, having an orgy without actually participating is an interesting reaction to Harcourt pushing him away.

And now for the Peacemaker podcast for episode 1, where series newcomers Frank Grillo and Sol Rodriguez join hosts James Gunn, Jen Holland and Steve Agee:

Not as good as the one from the first season, but that had the sheer WtF suprise on its side, and "Do You Wanna Taste It" was a real banger. I do appreciate how this one is more about emotion and tenderness, and the switches from being in and out of costume mirroring both the humanity of the characters, and the parallel universe plot.

I'll call it now (and am probably wrong) - the kicker here will be that doppelgangers in other universes are fundamentally the same people, even if they make different choices that set them on less destructive paths. There will come a point where the "dark'n'gritty 80s" amorality of the way the Top Two deal with their opponents will come into conflict with Chris's late-emerging conscience.

I wonder why in this new DCU someone would want to be part of the "Justice Gang".
Just because they'd get a paycheck?

Because I don't think prestige and authority would be part of the deal.

I doubt Superman gets paid, and isn't Mr Terrific supposed to be a billionaire? The BTS nailed down that Hawkgirl is an Alien, so she may not have any need for human currency, and then there's the brain damaged highschool Gym Teacher with a magic alien power ring, who has had much success maintaining a rock'n'roll lifestyle while looking up towards the poverty line.

In the comics Maxwell Lord manipulates the United Nations into giving them international judicial authority.

In more comics Maxwell Lord, under the secret thrall of an evil Computer would use his brain washing hypnosis superpowers to swell the ranks of the JLI, to fulfill the requirements of a mysterious nefarious agenda bent on world domination.

Fillion said it was because Gardener liked getting paid and wanted to open a bar.

Not official to the DCU, of course.

In the comics Guy runs or ran a Bar on Oa, home-world to the Guardians of the Universe, called "Warriors" because between being Yellow Lantern and back to Green Lantern he spent several years operating under the super hero pudendum "Warrior".

It makes sense.

I have to say that the old pre-reboot JL seemed more "respectable" to me (I'm talking about in-universe reputation, of course). I can understand that it would be the dream of any aspiring superhero to join it.

What I see in favor of Justice Gang is

a) from what we've seen of the Gunn-DCU, it probably has the most powerful metahuman heroes in existence. Even excluding Superman, Guy Gardner and Metamorpho single-handedly stopped a military invasion.
b) they pay you.

I believe Merced said the JLG legitimized Hawkgirl's violent impulses.

Gathegi said Terffic joined out of boredom. Everything is too easy.

I found it a bit hypocritical that they criticized Peacemaker's "violent" tendencies when in "Superman" they
had no problem killing the kaju (not to mention what Hawkgirl did)

I would imagine if she is living on Earth, she would need to have human currency just so she can take care of basic needs.

Selling what you want to be seen as vs. what you actually are.

You realize Maxwell Lord and the Justice Gang are all hypocrites, right?

I really enjoyed the first episode of S2. But I have to admit, the opening credits are kinda meh.
It's hard to top season 1. I think whatever they do isn't going to beat the surprise and fun of that. They might have overdone it a bit for season 2 imo.

Trying to pack a larger cast into the dance. Also, having several actors appear in two different costumes, at least one to represent her counter-Earth version, confused the cutting a bit IMO.

The comic highlight is the red-eyed alien who clearly has no idea what's going on , hopping around like the distracted kid in the back of the kindergarten dance show.

Situation A.

Shiara falls through a magic door, and is lost on the other side of the galaxy with no resources except the wings on her back and a trillion dollars worth of nth metal screwed to a stick.

Situation B.

Shiara has a ship with advanced computers that can hack anything, and replicators that can counterfeit anything else.

Situation C.

As a prelude to invasion, the spy Shiara Holl will attempt to assimilate and ingratiate herself into the mechanics and features of basic human culture for the intention of subterfuge and sabotage, so she may be pretending to have no resources, when actually, she has everything thing she needs to flip the board.

:)

I was imagining Situation. B.
