I was about to rate it 3 stars but then i remembered Uhura moon dance so i give it ONE STAR. What were they thinking:confused:. Nichelle Nichols was 57 years old in 1989.

Opinions and assholes...

And you sure know about -- and fit into -- both categories! :guffaw:-- RR

What's wrong with you?
I mean, really? Are you just incapable of civil conversation entirely?
Not that anyone was talking to you.
Go crawl back under your rock. Maybe someone will drop a nickel or a cigarette butt and you'll have a good day.

Ah, you do realize how silly that sounds, coming from someone calling people who have a certain opinion assholes, right? I didn't know that passed for civil conversation. Thanks for the clarification. Boo-yah-shakah!-- RR

I didn't call anyone an asshole. A shame you're so ignorant of the expression I was referencing. Everyone else seems to have gotten it.
Would some charitable soul explain it to our confused member, please?

Boo-yah-nothing.

The expression beaker was referencing was "Opinions are like assholes: everyone has one." Now if you're through behaving like one (an asshole, not an opinion), maybe we can get back on-topic? :)

Yes, I know that's exactly the phrase he was referring to, "Opinions are like assholes -- everyone has one." It's a perjorative phrase, anyway you slice it, and it never is used in a complimentary fashion. I challenge anyone to find a positive context for this remark!

Back on topic, I did want to like TFF, but it was poorly conceived. The McCoy revelation is one of the few times Bones is shown as fallible and hiding a deep sorrow. It's one of the experiences that shaped his persona as a healer.

A nightmare. At least the worst of the newer Trek movies LOOK good. To add bad effects in the age of ILM on top of all its other sins makes STV the Plan 9 from Outer Space of our time.

It was a fun movie, certainly way more entertaining than the stiff plot-point driven formula that sucked all the life out of Nemesis. In my book cheese is superior to boring. It had a least a few touching or warm & fuzzy moments. Nemesis had none. The big one, Data's death, did nothing for me. An eye-rolling attempt to copy TWOK.

And really, Picard as a speed demon in a buggy was way more painful than anything in TFF. Nichols was still pretty sexy in TFF, despite the ageism of today. Plus it was more about the voice, it's not like she actually whores herself out or anything. I really don't get why people don't like this scene. Is it unrealistic? Not really. Is it funny as hell? Hell yes, those guys who came to her siren song were totally screwed! But not like they had hoped.

Anyway, it's as enjoyable to me as TSFS or GEN at least. More fun to watch than NEM, INS or TMP. I'll give it a 4.

Ancient:

Do agree with your points vis-a-vis the weakness of NEM compared with TFF. Even with its flaws, TFF has more solid story-telling moments than the last ST outing.

Wow. You can't even lie well. An appropriate response would have been to apologize for your accusation and insults. But you don't even have the testicular fortitude and moral integrity to stand up and do that. Grow up.

If you guys want to hash this out amongst yourselves, please do it over PMs. Meanwhile, it would be really great if we could get back on topic here.

4 out of 5. It's one of only two Star Trek movies that aspired to be something more than a popcorn flick. (The other being The Motion Picture). I enjoyed all of the Trek movies to varying degrees but this one is special due to its subject matter and character moments. Forced humor and a rather anti-climactic ending make this a less than perfect movie, but its far far from the worst of the bunch. The only reason this movie doesn't get more respect is that its reputation precedes it. It has alot of depth for a Star Trek movie and unfortunately that seems to be lost on some people.
