Smallville's Edge was played by both Rutger Hauer and Patrick Bergin, handwaved by plastic surgery. There was also Adrian Pasdar's Morgan Edge in season 3 of Supergirl. And Justice League's "Secret Society" 2-parter featured a version of Edge voiced by Brian George.
I get the feeling some people here have not really watched Peacemaker when they are equating it to something like the 80s Ghostbusters movies. Otherwise, there were more full frontal nudity orgies in those movies than I remember.
Yeah, I mean, good grief, you wouldn't have gotten male frontal nudity in anything less than an X or NC-17 movie, probably, though there was plenty of female nudity in '80s R-rated movies. It's odd how these days, there seems to be plenty of male nudity on TV-MA shows, but much less female nudity than in the past.

It existed. I remember A Room with a View had a scene with men swimming naked, and I'm sure there were a few more films. I remember being shocked watching a Peter Greenaway film back in the late 80s or early 90s because there was a lot of extended male nudity. Male nudity has always been more common in European movies and the Canadian and Quebec film ratings were a lot different than U.S. ratings back then. The U.S. always allowed violence but no naked bodies, and our system tended to be less restrictive on nudity but more restrictive with violence.
I'm not stupid. I knew you were joking, but I didn't find the premise of the joke valid. Just because you think something is a joke doesn't mean it's funny, that it makes sense, or that it's immune from criticism. And it's entirely possible to "get" a joke and still think it's based on a nonsensical and ill-conceived assumption.
What are you talking about? American R-rated movies and premium-cable TV shows have had plenty of nudity over the decades, even before the TV-MA rating was introduced. It was only commercial TV that prohibited nudity. (Although we sometimes got nudity on public TV if it was considered classy or educational, and I recall that I did sometimes see male nudity there, e.g. on Brideshead Revisited.)
I'm with Gunn. It was a matter of convenience to make Max a total villain beginning with The Omac Project. I loved the original Maxwell Lord from the classic Giffen/Demateiss Justice League International. I know that Gunn's using that as the basis of the Justice Gang, leading to that group being replaced by the Justice League. The question is, will it be the Big 7 lineup with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash (Wally West?), a Green Lantern (hopefully Hal Jordan but most likely John Stewart : ( ), J'onn J'onnz, and Aquaman, is it going to be Batman, Beetle, Booster, Fire, Ice, Captain Marvel, Rocket Red, Metamorpho, like the JLI? Or is it going to be a mix of characters we haven't really had as a team before, like Gunn's Justice Gang, which is made up of characters traditionally with the JSA (Mr. Terrific and Hawkgirl, she was also in the JLA briefly)) and JLI (Guy and Metamorpho).Gunn has said his version of Maxwell Lord will be based off the original morally gray version
Seeing as how the Justice Gang in Superman was backed by Max and wore team uniforms, they remind me of Giffen and Dematteis' JLI spin-off group the Conglomerate, that Booster was briefly the leader off. I wonder if Gunn ever thought of using that name or if that was an inspiration for this initial superhero team.

Sorry, but I really really don't want to see that Pattison Batman in the DCU. He was fine in The Batman and I really liked the movie for what it was, a very gritty, violent, crime noir with Batman, but I don't like that emo Bruce Wayne/Batman that much, Pattison doesn't look much like Bats, and I thought the costume was terrible. I'd rather have a more traditional Batman from the comics, someone who could easily stand with his best (non-Batman-family) friend Superman in the Justice League. In that vein, talking about past Batman actors, I could see either Bale or Affleck in the role, but not Pattison or Keaton. I loved Keaton's Batman but I'm kind of glad that the plans to replace Affleck with him in the prior DCU fell through. That Batman needs to be in its own Burtonverse. I would've loved to have seen a final Burton Batman film but I think it's fair to say that is never ever going to happen. Just glad I saw the Keaton Batman one last time in The Flash, which imo was really good, if imperfect, film.

I watched all of Krypton and I unexpectedly really enjoyed the show. I didn't watch Gotham because I was interested in a Batman prequel that didn't have Batman as its focus, but, dang, I totally got into Krypton.THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one. He’s a one-note concept, not a character.
I mean, again, it’s fine if they use him. The Krypton TV series actually managed a pretty successful take, with an excellent performance by the actor. But it’s just not something I can ever imagine actually clamoring for.
As you say, for a lot of people the main argument DEMANDING his use seems to be, “But we’ve never seen him!” And I’m like: o … kay?
And I thought they nailed Brainiac in that show. Same with Lobo and Zod.
It kind of sucks. I watched Krypton, Superman and Lois, and Constantine and they all were cancelled prematurely. Oh well.
I will never forgive Krypton’s untimely cancellation and unresolved plotlines, but I’m good with how Superman & Lois ended. It went out in peak form with a brilliant final season, and the series finale was unforgettably emotional and satisfying.

It's just a common stereotype we have about U.S. standards. Graphic decapitation is okay. Bare breasts aren't. We used to have nudity on public television here, but it's gotten more conservative in recent decades.
The stereotype isn’t wrong, at least when it comes to broadcast television. I remember catching a few minutes of Starship Troopers on commercial TV one time. People were shown being literally torn limb from limb onscreen, but the shower scene was cut.
I said it before in another thread, when my family went to Great Britain in 1985, there were a couple of mid to late 70s American movies we watched on the BBC.

Brue Wayne was one of the main characters, so it kind of was about Batman, we just didn't see him in the suit until the finale. I absolutely loved Gotham, especially once the producers said fuck it, and the show went completely bonkers.
