What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Hell, even in TOS Engineering and lab departments often had officers and crewmembers in work jumpsuits while other departments had the regular duty uniforms. Crewman Watson in "That Which Survives" isn't sporting a red Engineering shirt and black uniform trousers when he's killed.

At least those TAS seatbelts existed and have a strong resemblance to the 2164 ones aboard the U.S.S. Franklin, so at least twice in the first century or so of Federation history Starfleet did experiment with seatbelts. :p

Even when she was in the Collective, she was no angel (she killed, enslaved, and/or assimilated for eighteen years).
Wouldn't that be true of anybody who was enslaved for 18 years, you'd be witness to that many attrocities as well.

All Borg Drones are victims of the Borg as well, you don't have the free will to deny the voice of the Borg Collective and their orders.

That's the scary part of the assimilation, once you're in, they have control over you.

All Borg drones are victims of The Collective. The Collective is made of Borg drones. Who is The Collective?
The Borg Collective is either a "Decentralized Voice in their heads" or a voice controlled by "The Borg Queen".

Take your pick as to which one is guiding the entirety of "The Borg Collective".

The differences between Seven of Nine and Icheb is what happens when you switch horses mid stream.

Chabon and Duff wanted a story about people outside Starfleet. Seven of Nine being outside Starfleet was a virtue. She defended people undefended, and it reflected her personality: distrust of large organizations. Icheb's belonging to Starfleet reflected the success of the character and underlined the tragedy of his death.

Goldsman and Matalas nostalgically turned back to Starfleet. Now Seven of Nine was excluded and the subject of discrimination.
