What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Star Trek: Picard didn't need Seven of Nine. Hugh could have continued the revolt on the cube with greater purpose, and Jonathan Del Arco brought more acting talent to the series than Jeri Ryan.

The entire crew, not just Picard, should have remembered the events of All Good Things.

Hugh wasn't military.

He didn't have Seven's military background. He appeased the Romulans (and he paid for it with his life).

He did what he thought was the right thing and it turned out to be a mistake.

Seven wasn't military either. The Fenris Rangers were paramilitary at best. Vigilantes.
Seven is also a unique special case.

She spent many years on USS Voyager, helping it get home.

Her knowledge rivals some of the most senior officers in StarFleet due to her Borg Experience.

She applied to StarFleet Academy and was rejected based on bigotry about her Borg past from other members of StarFleet Academy, despite Admiral Janeways support.

And her Fenris Rangers experience on top of that helped before she finally got fast tracked up to 1st Officer on the USS Titan.

How many times has a Random StarFleet Officer been suddenly "Kidnapped, beamed away, disappeared, taken hostage, stranded somewhere"?

And those poor officers have nothing on their person but the clothes on their back.

At least if they filled their pockets with useful gear, they could be ready.
If they're kidnapped or taken hostage, their captors are likely removing anything and everything in their pockets.

If they're competent kidnappers, they would definitely do that.

If it's one of those situations where they accidentally fell through a portal into another time & another place.

Having the gear could still be useful.

Imagine the Texas Rangers, but more of a private militia that has even less outside governing authority than the real life Texas Rangers. Seven was basically Walker, only much more effective and not having to answer to powerful suits and legal codes.

Starfleet uniforms with pockets violate Gene's vision of the future. A future were we have evolved from the need to have clothes with pockets, for who needs pockets when they have no wallets to put in them.
I use mine for, wait for it,...keys. I know shocking!

I am very, very, sorry to have shocked all of you guys. So, please before you faint, sit down, take a at least three deep breaths...

Keys also no longer exist in the future. Everything starts or opens with a the push of a button or voice command to a computer. Another sign that humanity has evolved is when you ask people what a key chain is and they have no idea what your talking about.
