Tron: Ares

You'd think they'd learn their lesson, and go back to the origins. Then again, Disney has been doing an awful lot of really stupid things in recent years. Enough really stupid things that for everything they do that makes me consider reinstating the Disneyland pass I declined to renew around two decades ago, they do two or three things to make me want to go a full year without driving the 13-odd miles to spend a day there.

I think it would be tough to translate today. There would be no "gee, whiz" factor of the newness of that kind of world to draw people in.

All I know, is that I won't praise or criticize the actual film until I see it. Not sure what it helps to complain about Disney not picking the 8 Tron fans chosen way to do things.

Well I don't think this movie will set the box office on fire either so Disney can suck on that
Good for them?

I probably won't see it until it shows up on Disney+. I just don't understand the logic of people who expect Disney to double-down on the Tron Legacy story when that movie didn't really engage audiences.
Indeed, yes. I enjoyed it but that means very little across the broader scope of things. This film is separate from Legacy for whatever reason and I plan on watching it and judging it on its own merits.

I'm going to see Nine Inch Nails on Friday night up in Detroit. Should be awesome.

Despite the fact that the Tron Legacy soundtrack is one of my favorite things of all time, having NIN do the music for this movie might actually generate more interest beforehand.

I dunno, but I feel like there'd be a way to do it in such a way that honors the legacy behind it. Could be an 80's period piece leading up to the events of the first movie.

Whatever way they went, I think that its box office appeal is limited.

I really wish they would have incorporated modern computing, such as cloud computing , into the storyline.... not sure how that would work,,,other than maybe programs being in multiple places at once and maybe merging at times. Maybe files fight each other to not be a deleted copy. (I am think of occasional file conflicts i have with Dropbox).

@Gingerbread Demon will likely be correct.... i don't see how people are excited about it. I mean, if Karate Kid couldn't get very successful, i just don't see how Tron would be, especially with all the negatives

I'm calling it now Tron Ares will bomb
I'm afraid I agree. Legacy only did moderately well, and it didn't have Leto as the lead.
I can't imagine the Tron audience has grown much since Legacy, surely no more than it did between Tron and Legacy.

Here's hoping it manages to do okay. Even though we'll still never get an ending for Uprising. :weep:

Getting a strong urge to listen to my TRON soundtrack CD. Some of the things Wendy did, like going more idiomatically electronic in the real world scenes, and more neo-Romantic in the electronic world scenes, are pure genius.

Just realized that there's a parallel between TRON and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: in TRON, they cut Wendy's cue for the "light cycles" scene completely (she recycled it as a movement for her Moonscapes suite); when John Williams actually saw Last Crusade, he found that his cue, "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra," had been buried under sound effects.

Do I sound sore about the fact that most of Wendy's close music was cut from the original TRON, and that the sequels were made without even quoting any of her cues? You bet your sweet E. asinus I am.

The second sequel is sufficiently complete for a teaser trailer to be out; hence the plural.

And I saw T:L at least twice, listening for quotations of any of Wendy's themes, and still missed Flynn humming it. Where? When? (I don't remember whether or not I bought the T:L DVD)

You hear Flynn humming Tron theme in the flashback scene. When he is describing the game to his son he holds a Tron figure and hums the theme from original movie.

There are “spoilers” staring to appear if you know where to look. I put in quotes for a reason. Can a much more detailed premise and character roles in official Disney magazine really be a spoiler? A week ago someone posted full article from D23 Magazine which reveals a lot not in trailers.

Big tease…. Spoiler from official source…..

We see 3 grids in the movie. Dillinger’s gird and ENCOM’s grid and 3rd which they deliberately tease without giving details.
I got whole article saved on my phone as screen grabs.
