It’s not, AFAIK.
I sometimes think the general movie audiences roll with it easier than the hardcore fans.
I'd be cruel and hoodwink folks with what they think is a Batman cameo and then into focus you see it's Midnighter.

General audiences have already proven that flexibility. We had multiple versions of Quicksilver simultaneously and no one was confused. They even deliberately tried to confuse that issue by casting Evan Peters as a Quicksilver impersonator in WandaVision and that was a huge hit.
We've also had multiple competing versions of Sherlock Holmes with no problems at all. Ditto for Dracula and Robin Hood and various others. We've had tv versions and movies of characters overlapping (for instance, young Bruce Wayne on Gotham while the DCEU was ongoing or Smallville being still ongoing when SR came out). DC also already did Joker and Joker 2, with their own unique versions of Joker and Harley while other DCEU films continued to release (including TSS which still starred Margot Robbie and the Snyder cut which had new scenes with Jared Leto). Those weren't necessarily all successful, but no serious analysis would claim it was because audiences were confused about there being multiple Harley Quinns or multiple Jokers.
Audiences are perfectly capable of understanding that fictional stories are fictional and don't have to be related to one another if they don't want to be, regardless of sharing the same characters or world. If there would be any confusion at all, it would mostly just be people wondering why one company would choose to make multiple different versions of the same thing as that feels like competing against yourself. But that doesn't make the movies themselves confusing in any way and it won't stop anyone from enjoying the movies if they're good.

I haven’t seen it for a couple of years but I don’t think so. Indeed, your post lead me to think that the timelines for Superman and The Batman align quite nicely. The Batman came out in 2022 and in that film he has been operating for about a year. In Superman, it’s been 3 years since he revealed himself as Superman. If we take those years at face value, we have Batman in action for about a year more than Superman, which I think works nicely (I never liked the age gap in the Snyderverse).
Do you really think he hasn't already considered that possibility and rejected it? He knows his plans far better than any of us do, so just because we don't know his reasons for choosing a different approach doesn't mean they aren't good reasons.
