Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

The article on TrekMovie also says that the Shaw Hologram would also hate that they changed the name of the ship and refuse to call it Enterprise.
I support Legacy, but what was pitched sounds like a Long Trek. Wouldn’t this be the third series premiere focusing on Klingons, after ENT and DIS, if Legacy goes ahead?

- CBS/Paramount, who NEVER make productions based on what the fans want,
SNW says hi.

SNW is a show starring and centred around characters that were popular in Discovery. Picard season 3 was popular because it brought back the entire TNG cast which is not what a follow up show would be focused on therefore it can't be used as a metric to determine if it's a safe investment to greenlight.

Is anyone craving more nepo babies, boring Bajoran man or crybaby Haliian woman? Are enough demanding it that it would make enough money for Paramount (or whatever they're called post-merger)?

As a business decision, Matalas' ideas are probably not the smartest given each episode would have to rely on the crutch of a (possibly expensive) cameo in order to compete with its predecessor.

There's Seven of Nine (a popular character in her own right).

She has one of the most complicated psyches in Trek (this woman was evil incarnate for eighteen years).

SNW is an extended game of "Let's see which TOS character is going to appear this week".

I didn't like the TNG reunion (they shoved the PIC S1 cast over the side  ).

Now, Akiva Goldsman wants to make Star Trek: Year One.

See the thrilling adventures of young Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Sulu, Chekhov, and McCoy when they're just starting out! (Just pretend the Kelvin films don't exist.)

WGA Schedule of Minimums

WGA members (I'm assuming this includes Terry Matalas) have to be paid for doing outlines (which means either P+ or Alex Kurtzman commissioned him to do it).

It's one thing to scratch out some notes. Writing a 30 page outline is a commitment.
Depends on whether Matalas is writing this on spec or if it's an assignment from the studio.

EDIT: Posted this before seeing Mudd said the same thing.

I agree that Seven is one of the best characters in the franchise but if she alone and indeed Picard alone were enough of a draw surely seasons 1 and 2 of Picard would have gotten the numbers of season 3. Alas nostalgia bait only works when you drag them all in. No matter how old they get or what ranks they reach they must perform only the same duties they did 30 years ago.

I dont think this Year One concept will pan out, it is pretty much wishful thinking but Kirk sells so it is a stronger possibility even if incredibly unlikely.

Kelvin is a whole different universe so it can do whatever it wants and play around with all sorts of anachronisms.

Too many legacy characters and you get SNW ("Pike! Spock! Kirk! Chapel! Uhura! Scotty! M'Benga!")

Is anyone craving more nepo babies,
If you think about it, nepo babies are a part of Starfleet’s DNA. Kirk, Spock, Archer, Burnham, Tilly, Riker, Troi, Wesley.

So, I’m not sure what the big deal with Jack Crusher and the LaForge sisters.
boring Bajoran man
What if he’s revealed to be a Cardassian hiding in the closet as a Bajoran? Then he’s be a Cardassian in Starfleet.
crybaby Haliian woman
Who know if they’ll stick around? Comm officers were not used in TNG, DS9 and VOY. And I'm not sure if there will be a serious role for this character beyond signaling that the post-PIC environment is similar to TOS.

And what if they get replaced by Elnor and/or Kestra Troi-Riker and/or Soji? Or a brand new character altogether?

Outside of the TNG cast, and a couple of its recurring characters (Alexander and Sela), it’s a couple DS9 characters (Kira and Jake), and a few VOY characters (Harry, Janeway, and Naomi), and maybe Jurati. They might get Chakotay too if they offer Beltran something better than the Confederation version of Chakotay and revisiting the Seven romance. These are the only names that Matalas has brought up.

Not sure how that’s breaking the bank.
