I'm not holding out hope this won't be a CGI fest.
What made the first two work were the practical effects.
Perhaps they could go the same route as Netflix' Dark Crystal series, with a hybrid combination of live-action puppetry with CG environmental compositing. It's proven that it can be done, but will they?

If they do it I hope it is not like the first or second movie. I love the idea that each movie would have it's own unique style and approach They do need to get Phoebe Cates out of retirement to at least have small bit in the movie IMO if they do it. Maybe they could do Gremlins in space. Musk like figure has made the first Moon colony and the Gremlins get loose. Galligan was one of the civilian guests to the base. Cates does her cameo with calling him from Earth.
I wager 5,000 quatloos that the CGI Gremlins will suck.
GOD NO!!!!!!!!! Not CGI Gremlins. They can use CGI touch things up here and their but they need to old school in showing the Gremlins, provided we do get a Gremlins movie. Which we will of course. Hollywood remakes and reboots everything so I don't see why they wouldn't do this.
Yep, it'll be like Return of the Jedi's Henson Yoda vs The Phantom Menace's CGI Yoda.
We'll get a Baby Gremlin, even smaller and cuter looking than the original gremlins. Audiences will eat that shit up.
And maybe the grown up gremlins just eat it, because, you know, hogging the spotlight.
