What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

A bit implausible. Even with 2025 technology either slow-release hormones or an IUD could have been put in when they had their first date and still been working when Ben joins the prophets.
Just because certain medical technologies are available, doesn't mean everyone is going to use them. Even today with all of the hormonal birth control options available, some people still choose to use condoms. And I mean choose for birth control, not for STD prevention. Some people don't want to take hormones. There are various reasons.

Point is, Sisko and Kasidy may have had their own reasons for using the method they were using.

Do people really want "Code of Honor" to be banned, taken off Paramount+, or taken out of the syndication rotation? I've been around TrekBBS for 22 years and I don't ever remember hearing anyone argue that.
here? i don't think i've seen. elsewhere? i've seen it a few times.

Geordi. Yar. Troi. All young and sexy
Dax. Bashir. Even Kira. All young and sexy
and crosby had done modeling and playboy, although i don't know if that was played up at the time the way it might have been more recently
I will say this: on his web show, Dominic Keating said that studio executives and Berman told him that they did have youth and sex appeal that would lead to Enterprise replacing TNG in the movies (unlike DS9 and Voyager). It was very clear they were going after an audience.
i do vividly remember jolene blalock's maxim spread for the fall tv lineup that ENT premiered...
Yeah, it’s drama. It’s like in old movies where the wife tells the husband she’s pregnant and, while deliriously happy, he’s also completely surprised.
obviously the prophets intervened :P

They all played older, with the exception of Siddig.
They were all pretty close to their actual ages. Memory Alpha says Geordi was supposed to be 29 in TNG S1, LeVar Burton was 30. Denise Crosby was 29 when the season began filming, Tasha was 27, according to MA. Marina Sirtis was 32 while Deanna was 28 (also according to MA).

Jadzia Dax said she was 28 in Emissary. Terry Farrell was herself 28 when that episode was filmed, though it was a few months prior to her 29th birthday. Bashir was also stated in Emissary to be 27, Alexander Siddig actually was 27. Nana Visitor was 35 during DS9's first season, according to Memory Alpha Kira should have been 26.

Only Bashir is depicted as being just out on his own, a new graduate on his first job. Given that was medical school, he would be arguably not that much like a teenager or someone just going to college. Indeed, he had played much older characters in his previous work. Similarly, DS9 was not Dax's first job. Neither was marketed in a way that suggested identifying with people in late high school or early college. OTOH, ST09 was essentially a crew of college kids.

ETA: Remember how they told Dax to play like Grace Kelly and Yoda? The intention was to create a sense of wisdom from age that seemed out of place with her age. When that didn't work, they started showing how she could hold her own with much older people, Klingons and the captain of Odyssey, for instance. She wasn't intended to be uniquely youthful.

I think that the next Star Trek, should include a controversial species that nobody believes in...the stuff of conspiracy theories.

Until the very last episode, which shows the audience finally getting eaten by them.

Two headed purple people eaters...with halitosis. The first time you detect them is when you are next...

Sure. My point was just that we already have two completely different highly reliable methods available, and there should be more by then.

I have never heard anyone argue for that either. Even with the worst episodes I don't like that kind of historical revisionism. What was made is what was made, maybe its only purpose is to be a negative example but that's still a valid purpose.

Perhaps Strange New Worlds should hold true to canon then, either with the two characters abandoned on a planet together succumbing to their primal instincts ( perhaps initiated via Pon Farr?), or during a scantily clad decontamination chamber ‘gel scrub down scene’? These scenes should *not* be recreated using Jim Henson muppets.

Where's the fun in that?
