Tron: Ares

This was an official production, just for the record. Not a fan film.
I remember this after Tron Legacy came out. It gave us fans hope for a 3rd movie. We got one but maybe not exactly what we wanted. We'll see.

I'm not familiar with this NIN chap but he must be a big deal for them to advertise it.
I believe it's the classic erotic writer Anaïs Nin. “How wrong is it for a program to expect the user to build the world it wants, rather than to create it itself?”

(Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to search for the Anaïs Nine Inch Nails mash-up surely someone has already thought of writing at some point in the past thirty-five years. Ah, disappointing. It appears to have gone no further than the odd novelty t-shirt. I was hoping for a parody combining, I don't know, "March of the Pigs" and The Four-Chambered Heart. Sadly, I'm even less familiar with the particulars of Nin's work than I am with NIN's, so I can't make this exist myself.)

Must have been a massive laser to get that into the real world considering the laser Sam and others have used were much smaller

If the movie really does completely dump all the plot points from Legacy, then maybe we'll at least get a comic or novel or something that brings them Ares into line with it. I didn't realize until I was looking at the movie's Wikipedia page and saw that Gillian Anderson's character is Elizabeth Dillinger, so I'm she must be Ed Sr.'s daughter, which them begs the question of whether or not she'll be treated as an only child.

Having heard of it a few times, I finally got curious enough to look it up on Wikipedia.

My immediate reaction: "I don't think so."

Tron: Legacy was enough of a disappointment. I think I'll stick with the original.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I will note that I'm a Wendy Carlos fan, that I'm indifferent at best to Daft Punk, and that the thought of Nine Inch Nails scoring this installment leads to thoughts of nine inch nails on a chalkboard.)

No because Evan Peters is playing Julian Dellinger, so presumably he's also Ed Sr.'s child.

Also, it should be noted, there's no source on Gillian's character name. Granted, there isn't one for Peters either but it had already been previously reported that Peters is playing Julian Dellinger whereas this is the only place I've seen Gillian's character name mentioned.

I absolutely loved Tron: Legacy. The animation was somewhat choppy and primitive, but the story rocked.
You mean Tron: Uprising. And I agree. I loved the story and how well Tron was utilized in the story. I'm still bitter about Disney's treatment of the series (constant rescheduling, resulting in terrible ratings, and then ultimately canceling the series due to poor ratings).

UPRISING! Yes, sorry. Getting the titles confused. :)

I so wished they had done more with it. Seems that they didn't quite know how to market genre shows to a slightly more adult-oriented audience, which I was always under the impression was the whole purpose of Disney XD. Does that channel even exist anymore? I know they shut it down in a bunch of international markets in recent years. Seems they still haven't figured out how to use it properly. More's the pity...
